Hi
Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately non of the above are relevant as i have already done troubleshooting from that side. Nothings squashed, bend, vents are clear and no extractor to cause a problem etc.
What I was concerned about is the lack of heat when you pult your hand in. It’s very luke warm. I’ve even cleaned the internals of any ooze and that makes no difference. One thing I would say is that the glass door seems to always have condensation on it which i don’t remember the Zanusssi ever having. All the other things are as is and the other vent holes are blanked off properly.
At a bit of a loss unless the heater element is faulty and thats whats causing it to be luke warm. It has a kind of half heat button which you can push in/out and I’ve even checked that to see if it was pressed the wrong way or wired up at factory vice versa and that made no difference at all. Fact I don’t even think the heat was any cooler when it was activated which leads me to think does it have 2 x elements and one is bust (the cool heat button deactivating one of them if you get my meaning).
With the Zanussi you could feel the warnth throught the glass with this you have to put your hand inside the drum to see if there’s any heat as the glas is barely warm.
Anyone with any ideas? Be greatly appreciated to know what it’s like inside whether there are 1/2 elements or if a faulty thermostat would cause this. I have to say I get the impression it’s stuck on cool cycle all the time. Thanks

ParticipantRe: BOSCH SLIMLINE SPS 24 heating problem
Hi Again,
I decided to do the old rough treatment (it’s an old machine) and give it a few bumps and guess what the flipping things working again. Just hope it aint stuck open this time or I’II be eating off melted plates….lol
I did actually check the fine mesh filter which was a bit blocked so i don’t know if maybe this could have caused the same problem???
Anyway thanks for your help.

I’m not sure whether to thank you or cry so I’II do both. Thanks for your help and prompt reply – now I’II go and cry 🙂
It’s not whether I’m brave enough because I have enough technical know-how and plenty of patience but whether it’s actually worth it. £92 would go a long way to buying a new machine (albeit maybe not a great brand).
Thanks for your help and thanks for a great forum.

ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita A1635 – Paddle/Lifter removal
Wow!! thanks folks for all the suggestions.
The stains seem to be small blotches/streaks about the size of a 5p piece but also have longer marks like the 5p piece has been dragged out (does that make sense… I hope so). They are funny enough the colour of brown/copperish. The machine is absolutely spotlessly clean as far as can be seen from the outside and inside the tub.
I was only saying what the engineer stated it was. Doesn’t seem any play in the bearings at all but I have to admit when I saw the stains I thought rust/bearings or maybe grease leaking through the seal from the bearing. Definately coming from the machine as the its there before it hits the dryer.
Must admit what you guys are saying makes a lot more sense and was probably along what I would have thought to begin with if the “engineer” hadn’t said otherwise.
The marks do wash out and we usually use Aerial or Persil or Bold.
Hope this maybe gives an answer to all your questions and once again many many thanks to you all for your enthusiasm and help.
By the way the engineer was from the extended warranty company.
PS: Machine is no louder and is behaving exactly the same as it always has (other than the marks)

The marks are like grease/brown stains and are on white shirts. It was the engineer that stated that it was gunk being held in the paddles. Unfortunately i wasn’t here at the time but my partner was shown the gunk on the paddle. The paddle was put back in without cleaning and she was told to just run the machine a couple of times on service wash with soda crystals… it hasn’t worked despite doing this 3-4 times. In fact I’d say the problem was worse now. The engineer appeared to be able to remove the paddle in a matter of seconds with a flat blade screwdriver.
Just thought if it was that easy I might be able to take em off and clean them myself properly.
I am from a technical background so I’m fairly able.

ParticipantRe: siemens siwamat plus 3403 pump replacement
Great, Thanks for the prompt reply Gegsy,
I take it that the Universal pump is NOT an option? The reason I ask is that we probably intend buying a new Seimens (costing £450 with 5 year guarantee) within a matter of 4 months so I’d like to keep cost down as much as possible. We’ve had a few unexpected big expenses recently otherwise we would have just bought the new machine now so this is just a tide – me- over till we buy the other one so want to keep it as cheap as possible.
Many Thanks once again
