You will be less than pleased when it breaks down and you can’t get someone out to fix it for 2 WEEKS. Parts have to be ordered, more delays, wrong part sent, more delays. Your definition of “trouble free washing” just may be a tad optimistic. 😉

2 weeks, is that the standard Panasonic repair schedule?

There will always be occasion where problems arise and delays are inevitable but that’s not just specific to Panasonic. The mighty ISE have had their fair share of problems. Google shows a customers not having warranty honoured for an 8 month old machine which developed a fault 😯

At the end of the day I know I’ll get the Panasonic fix ‘if’ it develops a fault within warranty..

    That’ll be just 5 years not 6.

5 year insurance protection INCLUDES the first year.

Meh, I’ll take 5 years of trouble free washing..

The LED version seemed to score reasonably, can’t knock 9/10.

Settled for the Panasonic NA-140VS4. 1 year standard and 5 years parts and labour for under £400 which I didn’t think was bad.

    Thanks all.

What I know about washing machines you could write on the back of a postage stamp, hence the reason I posted in a washing machine forum asking for advice.

The Miele is unfortunately out of my budget. Bosch and Siemens sound good, any recommendation?

Ha! Guessed it wouldn’t be a Miele for 150 notes (if only!).. Well at-least I’m OK for 12 months. Had someone bending my ear on MSE, don’t bother with warranties he said if it only lasts 3 years quote not fit for intended purpose and insist the manufacture rectify the fault FOC. Apparently any washer irrespective of make is suppose to last 5 years in a domestic environment 😯

Most washing machines are built on the averages, 250 washes per year, standard 2.5 people or so per household. So, I’d doubt any manufacturer would consider washing that volume of laundry as “normal”.

    K.

Think I might use that as an argument against DOMGEN’s offer if they start kicking up a fuss. Like I said semi pro (I know in the trade it wouldn’t would class it as a “semi pro” machine) for a box standard domestic is not a fair replacement!

The Whirlpool was good by the manufacture’s word for 28 washes a week, we never got to that level of washing but it makes one wonder if the bearing design was ever upto that level of use.

    Re: Suggestions for a washer…

    Thanks for the comments gents.

Surprisingly on this occasion (cabinet) size isn’t important, the HDW1011 is not a domestic size washer. We made cabinet provisions when it was bought it so that side of things is sorted. We won’t be using the washer for commercial purposes but do have a large family (7 under 10 years) all have varying duvet sizes.

What I have noticed is while a washer may be capable of washing a 11kg load it doesn’t necessarily mean the drum is of sufficient capacity to fit a double winter tog duvet in and that’s where my problem starts. The Hotpoint that has been offered won’t look at a double winter and just about manages a double summer but with no room to agitate.

Anyway I’ve written Domgen a letter asking if they will consider a repair and do 50/50 on the bill at £439 which is a healthy discount considering Whirlpool would have charged me £700 part/labour as a domestic repair!

    I’ll checkout the ISE allsorts!!

Scrap that. Anyone know of a machine with a drum circumference of 500mm+?

Are you trying to make a grown man cry?

I’m gonna try them with either a 50/50 repair or direct replacement. This Hotpoint replacement seems expensive and quality according to you chaps in the know is pap!

Pity really, Domgen in the past have been very good with repairs!

    Happy days!!

    Filled with confidence 😥

Don’t Hotpoint washers come with a 5 year warranty?

Maybe, for my needs it’s as semi pro as I’d like to go without spending £1k+. Think I’ll ask Domgen for a repair and see if they will do a 50/50 on the price Whirlpool direct offered, cheaper for me and keeps the washer out the land fill, environment and all.

    Re: Suggestions for a washer…

Just to add to this Domgen have offered a Hotpoint AQ113L297E as it has ‘similar features’ to the Whirlpool. As I see it I don’t think it’s a fair replacement.. semi pro washer for a domestic?

Anyway, with the remaining policy cost and delivery it comes out at £379.07 as my part of the bill! 😯

    Thoughts welcome!
