ParticipantSorry, I checked the ring with multi meter resistance and it showed no break in ring element and then I switched to boost setting and meter to AC and powered on oven. At that point no voltage showed up until I turned up the temperature dial. The meter immediately showed 230 volts.
Sorry for the confusion Dave.Bimbojim
ParticipantHi all, sorry I haven’t posted back , unfortunately I had a bit of bad luck requiring my right leg being put into plaster from a tumble out walking. And no, I didn’t have rabbit for my tea but if I see it again it will end up in the pot.
I shall get back to the oven near the end of this week as pulling it out onto the kitchen table is a wee bit awkward at the mo
I did check the fan ring and did get continuity with selector switch off then 230 volts after turning temp switch up. For the moment we are using the standard oven set up ( top and bottom elements ) after I replaced the 80°c cut off and is a least giving us use of the oven. Thanks for the help again all.Bimbojim
ParticipantThanks for the update Dave and glad you got some time away.
I replaced the burnt cut out with a new one and the ” normal oven” top and bottom plates heat up and appear to work as normal along with the cooing fan tripping in about 80-90°.
I then let everything cool down and tried the setting with fan oven selected and again top and bottom started to warm up but rear fan area stayed stone cold.
I next intend to check the rear coil plate with the multimeter to see if it has popped which I didn’t do when i replaced the cut out. You may virtually slap me on the back of the head.
Is there anything I should check after I check the coil (fan spins as normal on fan setting). Thanks for the input, JimBimbojim
ParticipantH Dave, I did asyou asked with the two wires together the cooling fan started up straight away. The other stat is numbered Z424 R175KS which suggests the R175 is the high temperature one so am I right in thinking that the burnt one must be the 80°c one.

ParticipantI checked the stat with the red wires(burnt one) with omhs meter across terminals and didn’t get any response. Do you mean I should recheck the stat Insitu as the plate will be the “earth” ?.

ParticipantThanks Dave, that looks like the 80° one might be the culprit then as the oven heats up then stops heating. Well that link didn’t work, I’ll post picturesfrom my pc this morning.

ParticipantI did see that stat on the web site but I’m not sure if the one I require is the 80° or the 230° stat so that’s why I’m hoping the red or brown wires will help identify the stat. Thanks for the quick response.
