i thought the price of the extra cover was quite cheap at £57 for a years warranty, but i do take your point and think a ise10 or similar will be in order next time, i did see a special on a bosch washer the other day for £245 deliveried but i hear bosch isn’t has well built has the were. Do you want to buy some more drugs just let me know. 😆

All sorted , just to let you know it was the heater element that had gone open circuit, engineer tried selling some anti limescale to the wife, he said it had failed early due to hardwater attacking it, strange that cos im in a good area and dont suffer very much with lime scale here in yorkshire also i did a lipmus paper test when i got the dish washer and that indicated good water and also the last washer heater element lasted 9 years and never failed, so what a load of toss, just trying to sell is wares.

A faulty heater or failure to heat will cause the machine to continue on wash.
Indesit machines only carry a 12 month guarantee in most cases. They do now however have maximum repair charges, with the emphasis on maximum. :rolls:
Plenty of useful reading HERE
Jim.
thanks for the help will have a read up, looks like either the heater element has packed in or the control relay, i dont need to investigate any further will get it looked at under warranty, didnt want to call them out just to find it was blocked or something simple that they could charge for, at least next time the washer flashes a fault code im prearmed, and i know a very usefull forum to get some good advise. 😆blaster

Lots of the trade members do repairs at board level, however the success rate on the Indesit boards is not as high as on others, this fault often has other inter related faults that need investigation or repair.
They are just a very poor machine from top to bottom these days.
Jim.
Due to me not having access to the trade forum, perhaps that’s why my search found very little, but thanks for your usefull comments, the more i read about this model of washer the more i regret paying that little bit more for something more reliable, wife put washer on program 3 wash cycle last night and it was still washing this morning not showing any fault lights could this be down to the not getting to temperature or just panel playing up again, so looks like theres a fault somewhere on this washer, what a piece of junk, when i get home will have a quick look round but looks like i will be calling indesit to get it looked at under warranty. Will be looking out for a new washer soon what resonable priced makes do you guys in the trade recommend.

I’m sure that you may consider yourself or others to be perfectly capable of this sort of repair, perhaps even qualified to do it, but you have to consider the next few hundred people that will read this thread and are not capable or competent but decided to give it a go anyway on the strength of your “cheap” fix magically solving all ills. If it all goes South I’m sure you will take responsibility for the advice you give freely, won’t you?

If you read my last entry you will see i asked if anyone had tried to repair the panel or sourced a new relay and im no baby sitter do you think everyone that’s read my comment will be off down to maplins when it open’s to buy a new relay, i hope not if you dont have the skill or expertise to tackle a repair that you shouldnt even attampt it should you, and why o why does everyone compare fixing a bloody washer to a car, your right if a ecu was goosed you can send most ecu off to specialist repairer’s and have them repaired, has most of the time its fault is down to something has simple has a dry soiler connection, why is everyone into a thro away society , im old school will take the bloody thing apart first see if i can fix it before buying expensive new parts thats my choice ok.

yes will be very carefull has not to leave any sign ive been in the back or had top off, ive read about possible relay on the pcb sticking, if its just this problem why arent any of you lads on here sourced a new relay from maplins or rs spares and soldered a new one in, or is the problem on the control side causing the relay to stop in when it shouldnt.

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
id be going back to the car dealer and demand a new vehicle, compensation for the hassle, id be on the net posting on every car forum i could find
people do it for £100 fridges, why not for a £22,000 car?
you all taking my point yet?
i dont think £16 track rod end which is a wear and tear item is exceptional on a £22k car after 4 years, that like saying the tires have worn out so i expect a new car, where has a pcb is not a wear and tear item is it and we are talking to change the pcb somewhere like 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} the cost of the washer, so how is this a comparison.Had the door seal got a hole in it or the water pump had packed in after a few years then you expect that dont you has its a wear and tear part, ie moving part.
What drugs you on! cos can you send me some.blaster

hotpnt wrote:hang on a min, if you bought it 9 months ago brand new, why are you not getting it fixed under garantee??
i will be getting it fixed under the warranty, it must have a least 12 months with it, only problem is looks like the faults cleared it self has its all working again , so now i know what to look at ie heater connections/pcb/heater relay on pcb/wiring to heater, what i will do is have a good look round to make sure there’s no burning on the pcb for instance, i dont want the fault coming back when the washer is 13 months old do i, if i see anything and the fault happens again i will phone indesit. Thanks lads for your help, you probably think im a right tight arse expecting too much from a £151 cheap washer/drier and you be spot on.

here go the consumer rights brigade
want 5 years warranty on a £151 machine, but quite happy to pay £500+ to put a £25,000 car through an mot after 3 years
is it really that hard to be realistic?
i dont expect a 5 year warranty but did read indeshit gave a 5 years parts warranty if so might be usefull to know thats why i asked, has for your car senerio, i see the point your trying to make but using your maths equation paying 1/50 the cost of the car to repair it after 3 years would be the same has me paying out £3.02 to fix my washer so not really the same is it, has if the main electronic panel has gone faulty the cost would be £90 just for the part to fix my washer. Im also sure that fault list was posted on here 2 years ago but when i did a forum search it didnt appear, also yes i do buy tesco’s value stuff has some of it is good and exact same has better brand but then some is garabage has you say, but im not brand orinentated, i went for the same brand i had previously which still worked after 10 years, ok so i changed the carbon brushes a few times and replaced the door and a few door seals, but that washer is in my shed has my backup washer, like i said if i got 2 years i would have been ok with it, i think 3 years was probably pushing my luck, also by the way i fix my own car lol, £16 for a new track rod end on my 4 year old £22000 car to get it thru this years mot, it went straight thru last year.

i dont think 3 years out of a new appliance is unreasonable , regardless if i paid £151 or the retail price of £299, ok if i got 2 years i probably would be fairly happy, but 9 months, but has i said its washing again but has ive found out there’s no point getting anything really cheap if its unreliable, its all these electronic b@llocks, there always the first thing to fail, when i used to be in the trade some brand new washers had lcd displays and electronic controller’s instead of the mechanical ones and they were very poor regarding reliability, do all new washers have electronic programmers in them now?

its been a while since i repaired washers for a living, but had a indesit for 10 years very little problems, i did here about problems with this model didnt know they were so wide spread, its washing away again now so will keep a eye on it, do these washers come with just 1 years warranty, i wonder if taking out a extra warranty might be worth while, i only paid £151 for it brand new 9 months ago but still hoped for 3 years use before replacing it.
