Given that it’s a standard Embraco EMY32CLC compressor (retail about £60 complete) wouldn’t it be possible to but another unit with relay and overload that would work just as well (or better?)

Thanks kwatt – still pulling my hair out on this one!! Can buy a new stand alone fridge freezer (side by side) as the kitchen has been build around this unit – aghh. Liebherr really unhelpful and no luck in calling engineers either. I stipped the unit down today and checked the three poles on the side of the compressor (as embracco told me – ohms common to start + ohms common to run = ohms common to run). Plus I tested the three terminal for short against the compressor chassis. All good.
However the relay does look a little burnt out – but that could be just how overused it is. Not sure that the motor should be drawing 500W for more than a few moments.
Where can I buy a replacement relay??
