Re: Miele Novotronic W844 – noisy when spinning

Problem Solved – It was the carbon brushes. I have installed new brushes and it’s working like new now.
Many thanks to everbody for their input with this especially Penguin45 who explained how to get at the brushes.
For future reference, if anyone else needs to change their brushes I would recommend they check out the pics on the link below which were taken by another poster on a different thread. They show what the motor looks like and helped me no end in identifying where the brushes were actually located, etc.

Re: Miele Novotronic W844 – noisy when spinning

Ok thanks – I plan to try to inspect the existing brushes before I order replacements.
What is the best way to access the brushes?

I have the lid off and am not sure whether to lay the machine down on it’s side to get to the motor or whether it would be best to unscrew the front panel. If it’s the fornt panel, does anyone have details of the steps to remove it please.

    thanks

Re: Miele Novotronic W844 – noisy when spinning

I would definitely describe it as a crackling noise so would suspect that it could be the brushes.
Can I get replacements and how easy/hard a job is it to replace them.?

Alternatively, what should I expect to pay for an engineer to supply and fit them?

The wash cycle does not complete now. It crashes out with the “Rinses” light flashing rapidly. The operating instructions say that this is a “call for service” situation.

Re: ER6641T Electrolux Fridge Thermostat problem?

    many thanks for that Steve.
The fridge is in pretty good nick so if a new thermostat will fix it I may go for it anyway.
Then again, I may just back it to the girl who flogged it on e-bay!!

    Thamks

It was me that asked you the for the model number and told you where to find it 😉

I used to live in WP myself, but am still close enough to pick your one up, though i will need to hire a van. I’ll see how the bidding goes over the next couple of days and, if it’s viable, will make a bid.

    many thanks

He had looked at the Neff website and said they were quoting £195 for a new compressor for this model. He quoted £55 for re-gassing and about £50 labour on top of that.

Is it possible to get the compressor cheaper than that?

Belated thanks for this. It was a loose connection on the power connector. Tightening the screw fixed it.

    Re: Smeg A42 Oven Problem

Previously, turning on the small oven strted the timer flashing again. At which point the main oven worked (as well as the gas hob ignition). However within a minute of being on it failed again. Now not even turning the small oven on brings up the timer, although the small oven is working ok.
