Thanks again DP
Today suddenly all went normal. The lights stopped flashing and the filter light turned red. I pushed my luck and reset the filter to green.
You’ve guessed, the lights started flashing again! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Many thanks for that Penguin45. I await the engineer’s visit now with some trepidation.
My service No is 8586 151 15011, I didn’t see this No mentioned, so not sure if I’ve got the ‘improved’ board.
I’ll await the outcome of the engineer’s visit and then have a go at Whirlpool and maybe contact Watchdog.

Had a call from the engineer today, he diagnosed the problem over the phone as the PCB behind the front control panel – will cost around £180 to replace and set up!
Would that be the going rate?, as it’s a 5 min job to replace, not sure about the setting up.

Had a look at the rear of the unit, guess the PCP is encased in the ‘black box’. My mechanical engineering skills normally stop at black boxes, so have called for an engineer – due Monday. Will post results.

Many thanks for your reply DP
When you refer to the rear board, do you mean the circuit board behind the control panel or is there one at the rear of the fridge freezer, currently buried in the kitchen units!
