I’ve just been to the Hotpoint website and downloaded the user manual for this machine. It gets shipped with hot and cold connections, two hoses fitted AND a ‘Y’ piece – with instructions to connect it to the cold supply only – even if hot and cold are available.

Thank you very much for your responses. I’m sorry I didn’t look before I leapt but it just looked so right – until I poked my head inside the top!
