Just a quick update as I think this may help narrow down where there could be a possible problem.
The last time I took my towels to my daughters to get them dried was after I had washed and dried them here and because of the atrocious smell they had to be WASHED AND DRIED at their house.
This time I WASHED the clothes in MY machine and only DRIED them in THEIR machine. They smell fine.
So do you think that definitely narrows it down to a problem with the drier of my machine and not a blockage? Is it overheating do you think thus causing the smell?

Thank you very much for your reply and taking time to help. I found the article very enlightening and shall not use liquid detergent again -although I’ve only used this particular machine a few times myself.
So, in essence, the Afresh product won’t clear up my particular problem? My washing does not smell – it’s only when items have been dried you see.
I’m a lady pensioner so wouldn’t be able to take the machine apart myself.
Do you think it’s worthwhile me getting someone in to try and solve the problem or to cut my losses and get a new machine? If that is the case it will have to be another washer/drier as I only have room for that. I can’t afford top of the range but wonder if there is one that is more recommended than others in an economy range?
Also, do you know (and I have read the manual from cover to cover and can’t find this out) is the one I got a condenser drier, as I can’t find anywhere to remove lint so I am presuming it is?
