ParticipantHi Don,
What is the cut away?
I’ve had look behind my Candy and there’s just a single plug and the pipe from the washing machine going into right corner. I’ve done more measurements and it’s a big risk with fitting the Miele especially with the skirting board. It would have to sit right against the back wall. I’m also not sure of the logistics of having the Miele delivered, not fitting and having our old one taken away.
I’ve been looking at BOSCH WAN28281GB instead but there’s also a Siemen’s (IQ300) which is very similar (I know it’s the same company) but it comes with a five year warranty but the Siemen’s model seems to be discontinued for some reason. What are your thoughts on discontinued machines? Any other thoughts?

ParticipantThe Candy isn’t pushed all the way back. There is some space behind but I can’t tell how much as I can’t see measurement on tape measure. I estimate about 5cm. It isn’t fully in line with the top of counter either. The depth of the space is 60cm to edge of counter top. This was the first machine we purchased and to be honest we didn’t even think about the depth specifically.
The machines I viewed yesterday seem to have a bit of an overhanging ledge where the pipes are concealed so I’m thinking a depth of 63.4 would be okay as long as it’s only the door and wheel sticking out

ParticipantThank you Don, I will definitely have a read.
Our current machine is a Candy Alise GOW475
There are a few machines I’m considering
Miele WSD323 8kg Powerwash
As long as body of machine wouldn’t stick out past counter top)
5yr warranty is a plusBOSCH Serie 6 WAU28R9OGB 9kg
I like the features like Speed Perfect and Anti Stain
Drum might be too large for usBOSCH Serie 6 WAU28T64GB 9kg
Same features but large drum size.BOSCH Serie 4 WAN282281 8kg
No anti stain feature but otherwise would suit our needs.I’ve measured all the BOSCH machines and they would all fit as it’s only the door that would stick out. I’m asking my in-laws to measure an 8kg Miele machine in John Lewis next week.
Our current machine can take over 3 hours to wash a full load so I’m looking for a machine that washes quicker and anti stain feature would be a massive bonus.
Any thoughts?

ParticipantThe 8kg Miele (and 9kg BOSCH options) I was looking at originally is 63.4cm deep (including door and pipes) but I’m not sure if this means that the machine will stick out past the counter top or just the door and programme wheel. If it was just the door and wheel that would probably be okay but if it’s the machine itself it would block the cupboard. How can I find this out?
Do you think a 9kg would be too big for a family of 3 (maybe more in future)
What are your thoughts of the anti stain features? Should a washing machine remove stains anyway without pre treating with Vanish? Mine definitely doesn’t remove stains.

ParticipantHi Don,
Thank you for your reply.
I realise you had replied to my previous post but I was just reaching out to other Miele washing machine owners to see how their machine is performing. Since my question has evolved a bit now that I’ve made a decision on a brand I thought it would be okay to ask the audience so to speak. Sorry I will keep to this thread now.

ParticipantHi Don,
Thanks again.
I’ve been comparing washing machines all weekend and even looked at washer dryers too. Do you recommend any washer dryers at all? Obviously not Candy as ours is awful and doesn’t even dry anymore and it’s only 6 years old.
I think we might be going for a Miele washing machine because we don’t want to be purchasing another machine a few years down the line. I’m unsure which model to go for

Someone on here (Trombell I believe) said that the drums on both models were exactly the same size. This is one of the deciding factors between the two different models. I had in my head that I wanted a slightly bigger capacity than my 7kg Candy washer dryer. Is it possible to verify this?
The spin performance on both of these machines is categorised as ‘B’ too and I wondered if this would be an issue? I don’t have a dryer so a good spin is essential.
I also looked at Bosch and Siemens but let me know if you have any more suggestions. Budget is at most £700.
Thank you

ParticipantHi Don, thank you for your reply.
I’m tempted to go for a better quality/more expensive machine since it will be a gift.
The Beko machines do seem quite cheap and I was worried about the quality of the quick wash after reading about that on this site. My mom has a Beko and she says she can wash a full load in 15 minutes. What about the more expensive Beko machines? Would the quality be any better? I would be tempted to go for one at the higher price end
I would love a Miele as I hear they last a long time but I’m not sure that would be in our price range.
BOSCH seems like a good fit but they all the models are so different to each other.
With regards to capacity, is there much difference between 8 and 9kg? I would worry about the water wastage if not fully filling the machine and it costing more money in the long run. Or if it has fuzzy logic or automatic adjustment does this matter?
Thank you
