Right, tested the thermistor and was working fine, so in an act of desperation I replaced the other black Omron relay on the PCB. Which seems to have got the dishwasher heating again! Thanks for everyone’s help!

Right, I’ve replaced the relay but it’s still not heating 🙁 Is there anything else I can test, perhaps a temperature sensor or something? I’d really rather not spend a hundred odd pounds on a new controller if it actually turns out to be a £20 sensor.

Damn, how much is that likely to set me back then? I’m guessing a couple of pounds less than an entirely new dishwasher? 🙁

Right, I’ve had the whole thing apart. First of all, there’s some sign of water leaking out into the underside of the dishwasher – the dishwasher powder seems to have wreaked the polystyrene float that activates the anti-flood cutout. So I’ve cleaned out the bottom panel and dried it, run it for 30 minutes and the water still doesn’t heat, but the good news is that it isn’t leaking into the bottom tray any more.
I’ve removed the connector from the heater and tested – it gives 24ohms. I’ve had *another* look at the PCB and everything checks out, so unless the relay itself has failed then I’m guessing something else must be up. Unless that 24 ohms doesn’t sound good (i’ve heard 20 to 30 is ok elsewhere).

I’m also having similar problems with my dishwasher. I’ve reflowed all the points on the back of the PCB (no visible damage, used to dealing with troublesome electronics so would probably spot a faulty joint – have tested continuity between relay pins and end points and all seems good) around the relays but still no heat.
Next step is checking the continuity of the heater I’m guessing. How is best to do this? Should I remove the heater (or at least the cable to it) and check at the heater, or can it be done from the connectors which attach to the PCB? I’ve not had the bottom of the dishwasher open (which I presume is where the heater is?) so that should be an adventure.
If it is the heater, how much is the part likely to come to?
Cheers
