To be clear. The machine will not do any program now after refitting the motor. When it first broke it would do a partial program with the locked LED hard on as described in my last email but would get stuck on final spin with lock flashing.
Current state is that the LED says it is doing a WASH, machine doing nothing, LOCKED LED not on. So it has degenerated since the brush change. New brushes, definitely the correct ones, suppose one brush was open circuit ?? (wire to carbon ? ) never thought of testing that. Rather loath to take the motor out again.
I have carefully inspected the motor plug for loose wires/damage seemes perfect.
Many thanks for his thoughts to my faithful reader

Hi Iadom,
I dont think it can be the motor because as I reported the machine would properly carry out a wash cycle , Prewash, Wash, rinse and spin but then would not start the final phase (FinalSpin) just sat there with the Lock Light flashing. But obviously the motor was ok even with a dirty brush which I thought might have not been able to carry the higher current needed for fast spin. Alas I was wrong ! Have proved that the door lock switch is good, there is a little solenoid inside which when energised not only causes a little plastic tab to mechanically hold the latch in but the same action makes a signal (or voltage) on a third pin to tell the pcb that the door is locked. I have proved that all this happens, and I know that the door is actually locked when it is supposed to be. So it looks like the pcb is not accepting/seeing the door locked signal so all actions are inhibited including the locked indicator LED.
I suppose a new pcb would have to be programmed for my exact machine Gulp !! ?? How do I do that ?August 12, 2014 at 11:28 am in reply to: Hotpoint WF250 1500Spin,Lock LED flashes, before Final Spin #417723Busyman

Many thanks Iadom. One brush was quite badly burnt and short, the other was reasonable. Changed them ok (BTW getting the motor out was made easier by putting the transport clamp bolts in to lock the whole drum assembly so it did not absorb spanner pressure)
But alas the new brushes have not solved it. The door lock LED works at initial test, if I select any program the door itself locks, but the door lock indicator does not light. And nothing happens ! Perhaps it is the pcb ? Oh dear ! So the fault indication has changed the door locked light no longer flashes. I cant see how I could have caused this, have only removed the motor and put it back. Many thanks to anybody for any thoughts. -
