Thanks very much. I’m surprised there isn’t even a downloadable copy on the Lec website.

ParticipantRe: Condenser dryers – a question
Thanks for the advice – I’ll put the negative points to my mother and see what she thinks.
Also, do condenser dryers manage to dry the contents as well as a conventional, hose outlet dryer?
BTW, anyone got any recommendations for particuarly good condenser tumble dryers please?

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFD 2471 – noise and leak!
Thanks very much. There is also a very slight and variable grinding/rubbing noise as I manually turn the drum.
In addition to that, I had a look at the debris trap and found a LOT of debris in it – I removed the debris and tried another wash and noticed that even though the debris trap was in tight, water was seeping out from it AND there was once again water dripping from underneath the machine.
Even when the machine had been emptied of water, on removing the debris trap again there was still a lot of water coming out. I’m assuming there is a blockage as well as a leak somewhere in addition to possibly dodgy bearings?
Time for a new machine I think!

ParticipantRe: My APM6855 – some pics of the frozen area
Not one of the best? ANYTHING is better than the rubbish APM6855 that I currently have.
Besides, have read a lot of reviews on the Baumatic and they are all good to very good.

Thanks. Unfortunately none of the Neffs will fit into the space I have so I’m going for a Baumatic BR16.3A

My word, regular as clockwork – mine has just gone again, 12 days after the last ‘freeze up’, which in itself was 12 days after the freeze-up before that one ………
Think I’ll just replace it with a fitted fridge!

My situation is identical to these Pics.
Did you find a solution?
PCB or Defrost Sensor.Any help appreciated
I’m kind of thinking of replacing the whole unit to be honest – I would just replace the PCB but on the off-chance that it’s NOT that I don’t fancy blowing 80 quid on something which doesn’t fix the fault. It’s a pity that I can’t borrow one to try it. 🙂

Oh, don’t worry about that, I’m not of the “sue ’em” mentality! I take responsibility for my actions, both good and bad. 🙂
Feel free to PM me full details. 🙂
Yes the evaporator is behind the rear plate and insulation.
But, 99/100 it’ll be the PCB on these things, which is this one but obviously I can’t 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} guarantee that. I would be pretty confident that is the problem though as I said.
Thanks, a pity that I can’t borrow one just to try it out – I don’t want to spend nearly 80 quid on one only for the fault to continue, and the law of sod says that I’ll be unlucky. 🙂
You need to trace out the wiring but most of them are on connector blocks at the back of the freezer and at the PCB.

I’m trying to avoid pulling out the unit as it’s so well integrated, but will do so if necessary.
Thanks for all your help. 😀

Well, it’s gone again. That’s only 12 days since it was last defrosted. 🙁
Now I assume that the evaporator is behind the polystyrene block, is that correct? If so then the evaporator is frozen solid with ice.
And I need to measure the continuity of the defrost heater (the metal ‘loop’ that I can see at the bottom), but where is the plug for that? Behind the polystyrene block? No doubt I’ll need to let it completely defrost before removing the polystyrene block?
BTW, feel free to elucidate me on exactly what to do – if I break the F/F then no worries as I have an ’emergency spare’ in another building which will do until I find a replacement for this APM6855. I’d rather fix this one myself though (with a little friendly guidance). 🙂
Thanks

Ah well, had to ask. 🙂
I’ll be back to resurrect this thread in a few short weeks …………………….. 🙂

ParticipantRe: My APM6855 – some pics of the frozen area
Will do that next time it fails (I’ve only just put it all back together and switched it back on). So give it 2 or 3 weeks ………..
I should point out that I’m not averse to dismantling things (I love it) but I like to have an idea of what to do/what I’m looking for. Not too keen on trying to pull out the F/F unit as it’s so heavy and cumbersome, but will do so if there’s no other (cheap) option.
I also feel that if it’s a PCB problem I could fix the PCB itself – it’s housed in the top of the unit isn’t it?
Do service manuals exist for these F/F units?
Cheers.
