    Thanks for the good replies Martin.
    I have now ordered a new machine and will remove and return the new element form this one.

    This used to me my machine, but now it is my tenants using it. I have only tried it out a couple of times recently, but yes the knob seemed to be stuck and needed a little turn to continue the programme.

    Thank you for this. I am still ok with having changed the element, since the old one had lots of fluff stuck on it and was rusty underneath, so it probably has failed as well or it would have very soon.
    So to search for the new timer I just search for a thermostat for my model ? and it seems to just be fixed with the rubber seal
