Re: Strange days indeed – most peculiar mama LAV 62800

I did wonder about the door lock. Do they exhibit different kinds of partial or intermittent failure? In particular, could they halt the machine for a varying period during a wash, then suddenly recover and make the machine jump?

On the possible motor problem: load distribution works in wash and rinse, as far as I can tell; load tumble is (I think) the fault period in wash and rinse; and spin always works. If spin always works, can the motor TOC nevertheless be a possible problem?

    Thanks for your contributions.

And I meant to say – what about the capacitors? Are they a possibility, i.e. what kind of symptoms do faulty capacitors give? And are they found on the PCB these days? Thanks again.

Re: AEG Lavamat 76810 E70 error

Hi – I have had a related problem with an AEG Lavamat 62800. Related, in that briefly I experienced the E70.

From the beginning: over time, the machine (4 years old) began to pause about 20 minutes into a typical wash. For 10-20 minutes, nothing happened at all. It was already at the right temperature, and the fill was right.

It might restart a while later. More commonly it would display E50 with beeps; sometimes it would jump suddenly, with a screech (I think a motor noise), stop and display E50.

It was difficult to detect a pattern. Sometimes, especially after a break of a week or so, it might do a pretty normal wash without the pause. Sometimes a different programme would work better. Sometimes I could changed the programme mid-wash and that would get it through. Occasionally it did the pause on a rinse cycle.

I changed the programme selector. Not very expensive, but obviously not right: no change. I cleaned out all the hosing. The pressure switch seems ok, and there’s never been a suggestion of incorrect fill. The heater seems fine.

I checked the motor brushes. The motor seems to work ok – when it works. However, part of me suspects some aspect of motor control, because of the pause, and then the jump.

This week, after reading some online stuff and a manual, I changed the NTC sensor. At first I got E70 sensor code and the 7 beeps, as on here. I managed to clear that just by changing programmes etc.

But: the previous problem persists. I’ve had the paused programmes again, right away. I changed programmes but could not get it to progress. Finally I shifted it to rinse, it drained and filled, and then paused on that too, for about 10-15 minutes, then suddenly began to turn over again, turned a few times, then drained. On next rinse fill I got the E70 (the sensor fault code); this surprised me as I didn’t expect the programme board to make contact with the sensor during rinse. Then the E70 stopped and the rinse cycle seems to be continuing.

It’s as if some relay is failing to go over and continue the programme, maybe failing to keep the motor in line. Or, it is the temperature sensor fault and I haven’t got to the bottom of it.

    Any suggestions?
