ParticipantWell i have done a bit of digging… and from what I have come across I think I will change to Fairy Active Bursts for the dishwasher. I was tempted by the powder but the missus is crap at doseages.
Re the washing machine, my choice is between Ariel Tabs and the new-ish Excel Gel.
I am liking the sound of the gel, but everything that is mentioned about the build-up associated with liquids is putting me off.
Which would you recommend? (ps it is going to be either Biological or with Febreze effect which I belie is also Bio).

We, like a lot of sites, struggle to keep all links up to date especially given the volume of them.
K.
Apologies if I sounded off or got anyones backs up – it wasn’t meant.

Then maybe I am doing something wrong?
I am following the link in the left hand column of this forum…
I scroll to the bottom of the page and click the highlighted link
I select a product or it’s details
And get this…
and that is for EVERY product on the page, not just the ISE2/5 which I know there is something happening with.carrot
ParticipantThen maybe something should be posted on the site to say so.
It’s OK for me as I have made the link between them and this site to find out information, but some people may go there, see that and NEVER go back.
A simple message to say that the product details will be available soon, rather than product not found, would IMHO look more proffesional and may retain those buyers who like me can wait but might be looking at other choices.

ParticipantThere are two problems I see with that.
1. Emptying it to move the machine – How much water will it need to contain (how many KG’s is the usual lump of concrete x litres).
Now how are you going to empty this without it going all over the floor?
2. Swell – The water container would need to be segmented (like they do with the hulls of ships) to prevent the water matching the “frequency” of the machine and exagerating the swaying of the machine.
Think of the bridge in america that collapsed during a gale as the wind was blowing at its resonant frequency.

ParticipantMoney – as little as possible to get something reasonable
Size, standard width (I thing around 55-60cm wide)
Don’t mind single or double oven though – am used to using single but a double could be useful.

Participant+1 on on that, done it in the past.
Makes life a helluva lot easier.

ParticipantThank you for your response.
Re the fridge freezers, I may have to downscale from what I originally looked at. Only the Liebherr is coming anywhere near to what my wife deems acceptable (price wise). Unfortunately I cannot persuade her otherwise.
If you had to suggest any other brands apart from Bosch, Miele or Liebherr – even if reluctantly – Who would you suggest?

Hi.
sorry for the delay in getting back. yes, we have been doing the washing up by hand all this time.
Anyway, I finally took the DW apart today.
I believe the heater is the silver tube 1/2 way down the r/h side of the following picture, just above what looks like the motor/pump.
There are 3 wires running into this unit, 2 at 1 end and 1 at the other. The 1 on its own appears to be earth, and running my meter between earth and either of the other wires gives no reading. However, running between what I believe to be live and neutral I get a reading of 50.5ohms (if I am reading my meter correctly, see following pic.

Hi.
I have a similar problem. I have read the above linked thread and will now empart all that I have done/found/know.
Firstly this is the second time I have had this problem. First time was within the extended warranty and an engineer came out and replaced the heater unit (well I think thats what it was, was a little while ago now).
Now even my extended warranty is no longer.
I know it is not heating because the wax seal on my bottle of dishwasher cleaner has not been affected. Also, as noted above, the cycle time is extremely long.
I haven’t got round to putting a metre across the heater yet, but I have taken the door apart to look at the pcb.
I cannot see any signs of dodgy connections. Any thoughts?
Also – ever since we had the first heater problem (and possibly before it) the salt light is and has been permanently on. (we had the latch replaced at the same time as the heater too, not really relevant but I thought I’d mention it).
Lastly, does anyone know where I can get my hands on the cylindrical bit of white plastic that slots into the metal in the base of the interior. It has a kind of conical centre and mesh sides and I presume is some sort of filtre. -
