My 2015 DV70F5E0HGW machine has just done similar, displaying HE and refusing to do anything. I actually ordered a new one as I could not reset it. I gave it another try and its now running.

    there are only 4 buttons

    1. turn off from the power button
    2. hold the first button (of 4) on the left & press the power button. the machine then starts & you hear all its motors run briefly while it does a system test, 02 was displayed.
    3. turn off, then hold buttons 1 & 4 then turn on wait 5 seconds before releasing.

I did check the lower filter for the condenser and the fabric mat had separated from the plastic carrier and was stuck along the condenser grate. its possible the air flow was unduly disrupted and caused the HE error.

the machine had been playing up for the last few weeks, taking ages before it would spin & not drying fully.

it never gets especially hot, I hope its working now & I can cancel the new one that is arriving tomorrow. That said, 7 years is a good innings.
