    I have the same issue.
I had the machine upside down to fix a cracked drum with some JB Weld (I’ve been doing it about every 18 months for the last 5 years ;)), and I was all chuffed with my glue spreading skills I turned it up again after a few hours of the glue setting and it wouldn’t work… 🙁

I suspect water has got trapped in a sensor / water pressure switch or something and when I turn on the machine all I get is a flashing number 8 that goes across the screen and nothing seems to work.

I too thought, it might be brushes as was suggested for other machines, but have also taken the motor out and there are no brushes on it. However, there is something like a sensor that is clipped onto the the back end of the motor (the opposite end to the pulley).

It has served me well and I think there is still a lot of life left in it yet so I’d like to hear some thoughts on what it might be / how I can clear the 8 code that keeps flashing.

    Hope someone can help!
