ParticipantThanks, I guess I need a donor machine or a new one then. Certainly I don’t think it’ll be another Samsung. Talk about inbuilt obsolescence the machine is only 5 years old and this part looks doomed to fail from the outset as there’s only support for the drum at front except for this odd spindle.

ParticipantThanks Dave, I saw that on eBay but TBH

ParticipantThanks for the reply, I eventually took off the dryer sides and worked out the noise was coming from the rear main bearing and spindle. When I removed the drum I was a bit surprised to find the arrangement wasnt as I imagined. The flange riveted onto the drum doesn’t have a spindle attached but instead has a hole into which a “bearing/spindle” Which is attached to a flange plate on the rear carcass of the machine. Below is a picture of the flange on the drum and the ‘hole’, it’s not obvious in the picture but the hole is oval in shape being 17mm in one direction and only 15mm in the other leading me to believe it’s worn?
