chuck it in the bin and buy a miele
Yep, thats what we’ve done – nice new miele, the mrs is sat in the kitchen watching it wash as I type.so if anyone wants an old hotpoint for spares or repair we have one, free to good home – well free to anyone that will collect it before christmas.

Thanks Jim
To be honest I was wondering about having a quick look myself, checking the electrical connections, switches etc, and if I don’t find anything ordering a replacement PCB and fit that myself – can’t be that hard can it (I spend most my life desiging, installing and fixing both Optical and Electrical networks on vehicles) – and see if that fixes it, sort of a final X quid gamble (unless I could get one on a fix or return type thing)
However to be honest I think this machine is either ending up at the local tip, or free to good home if you think you can fix it – the mrs is well feed up with it.
In terms of a replacement – we would be wanting something to last and don’t mind paying for it – rather pay say 500 quid now for something to last atleast 6 years, than 250 and replace it in a couple of years.
I take it that Miele and ISE are viewed as the best? I know a friend has a Miele (as has his Mum) and he’s very happy with it.
Thanks once again

Hello All
Well the machine started working again – worked fine for about a week – now has gone back to doing odd things again. Today it started ok, then just stopped (about a minute in) – switching it off at the mains (the on/off switch on the front did nothing) and the machine started working fine – completed the wash cycle, all LED’s off as per normal. Emptied the machine, shut the down and it started up again all by itself…
I’ve had a brief conversion with Hotpoint, my main problem is that for about 90 quid they would come out and fix it, but I’ll have to be in all-day, which if I’m not at work would cost me alot, and by the time I’ve added the 90quid to it – there is only about 10 quid difference between this and the cost of a new machine.
So am wondering if there is any diagnostics I could do myself, then order up the parts from the hotpoint website and fit myself.
If it all goes wrong (the wife is very close to throwing it out the window) – which makes of washing machine are the best – I don’t mind paying a bit extra if it means it will last.
Thanks again for all your helpDave
