ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
thanks not sure
the ‘daily load’ neon wasn’t illuminating when i selected it which is the cycle i had it on when it blew so i didn’t wan’t to take any chances
the machine is a 1200 spin but the replacement control panel is 1400 spin
these whirlpool timers have a model number and also a 3-digit identification number-385 in my case
is that correct? and how difficult are these to source
it seems surprising that they aren’t properly protected against damage from faultsdavelerave
ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
all been well now after about 10 washes
belt and drum seem fine
i had to replace the front control panel
the old one seemed to be damaged
the new one is for a 1400 spin machine(1000,1400)
whereas my machine was 1000,1200
i wasn’t sure about that so i’m using the 1000 rpm setting

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
the drum shakes a bit when accelerating
the machine doesn’t
and yes the belt moves slightly in and out on the drum pulley-but not much
i’ll prob wrap it up at this stage today as i’m happy enough with it
thanks for walking me through itmuch appreciated

hi
i confirmed the belt was correct by re-assembling spares machine and comparing
the belts have a part no. alright but i couldn’t match it to the whirlpool model
machine is leveland i’ll double check suspension in morning
tbh the shake is just temporary at the lower speedminimal drum shake and machine vibration at the higher speed
so it should be ok
the belt meanders in and out on the drum slightlyis that normal?
i don’t spend much time fitting it except to get the vertical alignment correct ?
thanks again for the assistancedavelerave
ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
i’ve just put on the remainder of the cycle at 1000rpm
i was looking at the machine with the lid off before so i may have been confused slightly
the drum shakes quite a bit on spinbut there’s only a mild vibration off the machine itself
it doessn’t seem excessive with the lid on
is there a way to confirm the correct belt

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
no it’s not quite a full load
seems to be about 2/3
thanksdavelerave
ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
thanks
seems to be working fine
one snag
i stopped it just before the fast spin at the end of the daily load cycle
i mixed up the beltsone seems slightly loose and i fitted the tighter one
however i thought maybe the drum was shaking a bit too much so i stopped it as i dont want to **** up at the last minute
how would i know ?? :eeek:the loose one fits but slides off a little easy
i’ll do some checking myself online before i run it again

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
thanks i switched it on
i’ll give it a full cycle shortly but success i thinkdavelerave
ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
and thanks 🙂

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
i tried to trace the tracks but tbh i couldn’t reach any conclusions
the drum, drain pump and main motor seem to be different shape and mountings
i’ll do the megger test-i wasn’t sure what tests i would need to do on it
there was no rcd trip at the time of original fault

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
yes they’re the same
3386AM
and 385
i’ve transferred the loom and most of the componentsunfortunately the machine and timer are same model but drum, drain pump and wash motor are different 😥
i can check the drain pump but i’m concerned in case the original motor blew the timer?
thanks

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
i’ve just picked up an identical machine for parts
the bearings were gone on it
i’ll do some transplanting today -hopefully it’ll work

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
thanks didn’t know that
i inspected the motor it seems ok-i didn’t run it
i heard they don’t give much trouble?
if i was to take a chance fitting a used timerwhat would i need to consider as a possible cause apart from door switch
i’m a sparkie so can do most of the basic stuff on machines

ParticipantRe: whirlpool timer blown
thanks
is it possible to deduce much from the photographs?
the door switch connects top left on pcb1
next to that is the motor
