ParticipantRe: V Quick Advice Wanted Miele W1613 or W3204?
Landlord just rang and they’ve now order a “Miele 3000 Distinction” whatever that is?
Turns out they were being messed about with the original supplier so have spoken to Comet and ordered the above.
Due to arrive Tuesday.
Anyone know is this a Comet only version as I can’t find out anything about it on the Miele site other than the handbook?
http://www.miele.co.uk/washing-machines/manuals/
Spotted something somewhere that suggested it might also go by the model number “W3242″…?

Thanks for the advice, I’ve emailed the landlord and said we’d prefer the 3204, but if its down to cost I imagine we’ll end up with whichever is cheapest…
Previously they (the landlords) had the AEG covered with British Gas and it had to be repaired at least twice – on both ocasions British Gas were next to useless and took about four or five attempts before getting the correct part replaced. They then cancelled that cover and got it covered by Domgen, they since let that lapse and decided not to bother having cover at all, and in the event it breaks down, they’ll replace it. : ) Just could have done with it not happening days before Christmas! Still the new one arrives Christmas eve…
They were in two minds to get a cheap one and replace it every couple of years as they break down, or spend more on a more reliable miele and get a 5yr warranty.
As for keeping the old AEG and getting it fixed, whoever is bringing the new machine is taking the old one with them so that’s not an option.
Cheers,
David

You’re a star!!!!!!
All fixed and it’s not cost me a penny!
8uF capacitor installed and thermostat pin prick pressed – it popped as I pressed it.
Tested it just now and it gets toasty warm and starts fine every time.
Why isn’t this pin press mentioned on the other threads about Proline and equivalent models not heating?
It’s at least worth a try before those with a similar problem go out and spend money on new thermostats.

ParticipantRe: Error Code ‘CD’ on AEG Lavamat 72600 Update
As requested here’s an update.
The 2nd door interlock mechanism was replaced with another new one and its been fine since.
So we think the original control board was defunct, and as such causing problems with the door switches. So even though a new switch had been fitted the old control module knackered the new switch during the one wash that it did.
As such when a new control board was fitted with the new (1 week old) switch (which had been damaged by the old board) then even the new board showed the same CD fault.
So now I’ve got both new switch with the new board and all works well and its done about 8 loads since.
This probably makes chuff all sense to everyone else!
So to summarise (imagine timeline of fixes)
Week 1 : Original Switch/Board = CD error
Week 2 : New Switch (with old board) = Did one wash then CD error
Week 3 : New Board (with now 1 week old switch that had done one wash)= CD error
Week 4 : New Switch (with previously fitted new board) = FIXED!Phew!

Steve, I replied to your private mail but not heard back from you yet. Email me direct from my PM if you want or let me know on here exactly which parts you’re after.

Update:
Managed to now source a lovely WHITE (not BLUE) CL372WV in perfect working order. Slight dent in the top, but otherwise ok. Bought from someone local for all of £20!
So dismantled that and gave the innards a good clean out, changed the bearings and drum seals with the new parts that I’d got for the old machine so hopefully we’ve many years together 🙂 This one powers away, really good start and decent speed. Heats up quick and is quite quiet too. Well chuffed.
So anyone wanting any bits from a BLUE White Knight CL372BV?
Door/Hinge/Drum/Capacitor(s)/Timer/Knob/Heat Selector Switch/Heater Element/Exhaust Thermostat/Cabinet Casing/Door Latch etc etc etc?
Cheers

ps re my other thread, I have the AEG Engineer coming Weds afternoon. So at least when that’s fixed I might have something to actually put in the dryer!October 20, 2006 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Advice RE White Knight CL372 Rear Drum Bearing/Fan/Capacitor #192326davidmbell

Well I should have listened to you Martin – but I soldiered on…
The latest on the White Knight….
Through a good mate I managed to get the following parts FREE!!
– Capacitor x 1
– Rear Felts x 2
– Rear Bearing x 1
– Front Drum Seal x 1
– Rear Drum Seal x 1In other words, in theory enough to get it going without the missing fan.
So all parts installed and still no joy. I think the motor has had it.
Even with a good shove it spins for a second and then runs out of steam.
I tried removing one of the new drum seals and replacing it with one of the old ones’ and then it will JUST turn – usually with an encouraging shove first.
Tried it in this situation with two dry towels and it just copes. Added one more hand towel and it can’t cope.
So I think the motor itself has had it.
Do these motors go like this? IE still work but massively underpowered?
I’ve tried turning the drum manually and there is some resistance, but nothing major.
Clearly if it needs the motor repalcing then it really ain’t worth it. AFAIK they’re about £80 to replace!
Ah well, nothing lossed nothing gained. Plus I’ve got a load of spares to flog on now (or use on a new White Knight when and if I can find another one).

I can’t fault the British Gas Engineer – none of the errors so far have been his fault.
The initial reason he came after 6pm was due to a c##k up at the call centre, and as a result his tech helpdesk close at 5.30, hence he couldn’t call to find out what the error code meant.
Once he found out he ordered the part (the door interlock) and he was good enough to get me a saturday slot so I didn’t need to take time off to fit that.
The part he’d be wrongly been supplied with once the fault came back (Control Module) was again due to a c##k up at the parts call centre.
He’s also been out to look at the machine after 6pm on both other occasions, so outside his normal hours. Thankfully he’s a nice bloke and really willing to try get the thing going again, plus he lives 5 mins up the road! 🙂
I don’t see what else there is to change on the machine to get it going again… Maybe the old Control Module damaged the new door interlock, and hence both should have been replaced at once (could that happen?)
I’ll try find out from the AEG person what the fault is, but may never find out as I’m not going to be around when they come to look at it.

Hi Martin, thanks for the reply.
I emailed Crosslee today, as I mentioned, and just before I left work for home I got a reply, with a PDF of the complete technical bumf on the dryer inc exploded diagrams and a parts list.
Thanks! I’ll keep you updated on how it goes…

I had another ‘fiddle’ last night and ran the dryer without the heating element attached – that way I could see the motion of the drum in situ.
It seems its just this rear bearing that is an issue. On a couple of ocasions the drum would start turning on its own. So perhaps the Capacitor is not at fault. Do they gradually degrade or just stop?
I’m still up for repair if I can get hold of a parts diagram for the dryer. I’ve been in contact with Crosslee but not sure if they’ll be willing to help.
Anyone else got any idea how the rear bearing setup is on this dryer?
Mine seems to have just one black plastic bearing and felt at the rear, is this how it should be or should it have three bearings, like the front?
David
BTW I don’t the £99 to buy a new one, and am determind to get this thing up and running. Somewhere in there is a decent little machine with some life left in it! -
