    Re: Neff S5453X1GB/74 error codes?

Removed the Control Board this afternoon and, as expected, it was blown; this time in fairly spectacular style! Interestingly not only had the same chip as before blown but in addition what I take to be the main CPU chip has a big hole in it!. This begs the question, have I just been unlucky and bought a defective board (it came direct from Neff and worked fine for 5 weeks) or is there something else amiss with the machine that is causing the boards to fail? Do any experts out there have a view?
I would hope that Neff will replace the board for free, but if there is something else amiss I might just as well buy a new machine.
    Thank you.

On the previous occassion the machine died mid-cycle with, apparrently, no power. I don’t know if it went with a bang or not although on examining the control board I did notice the corner of one of the IC modules missing. No idea if this was the failure or simply a manufacturing fault.
The fault this time is completely different. As only specific indicator lights are flashing, I assume, perhaps wrongly, that this is indicating a fault code but not being alpha-numeric it is rather difficult to look up!

Unbridled Joy! The new Control Module arrived and fitted today and normal operation has been restored. We even now have a warning beep if the door is opened during cycle and when it reaches the end of the programme, which we didn’t before or it wasn’t working. Sussing out the programming instructions took a bit of head scratching but was quite straightforward in the end.
I seems I won’t now have to spend Christmas chained to the sink washing up all the Christmas dishes! One Happy Bunny and Missus. Thanks once again for your help and advice.

    Martin

Thank you very much for your further insight and advice. £61.72 is actually the excluding VAT price but no matter, £74.06 is a good deal less than I was expecting and at least I now know what to buy the wife for Christmas!!

    Best regards

    Gentlemen
Thank you for your input and advice. Lifting the anti-flood lever does indeed cause the drain pump to opperate or at least something makes a noise that sounds like a pump! Does this then prove beyond all reasonable doubt that the Control unit is knackered? If so I am quite happy replacing this myself, given that I have already discovered how to remove it, rather than pay an engineer to do it for me (quoted £75 +VAT for call out and first half hours labour)!
However, I note there appears to be 2 different units for this machine, one described as ‘Control Module’ at around £89.00 and the other as ‘Module Pcb-control at around £140.00 Sods law will no doubt dictate that I need the dearer unit but can anyone explain the difference? Obviously I need to remove the old unit again and check the part number before ordering.

    Thank you again in anticipation.
