Ok i picked it up, and its in the house, all i have to do is connect it to the mains, it has a reducer (looks like a fixing to go on to a tap! is there another neater way to do it? like a push in T that will take the 8mm pipe and then fit the filter on to that, i must say the instructions are not helpful they look like there out of date, because all the gubbings have already been done at the front and the filter looks like just a push in fitting with the 8mm piping, with (as the instructions say connectors etc) so im gona bash it all in 2morrow and hope it all goes well and no leaking lol

You could be right, i cant find the thing now on there site since the sale has finished, but im sure it was as i said, that’s the reason i asked the Q
Anyway picking the LG up later from curry’s, just had a look on line and it has a 2 year warrantee and not the 1 year (hoping i don’t need it) but i know uk whitegoods do an extended one, but i don’t know how much it is or for how long, its worth thinking about if i did know

Yes i was going to but the side by side fridge/freezer from curry’s (in the sale it was £499) and that had the twin temp and compressors, but 2 things put me off 1 it was a Samsung and the other was it only had the water that you had to fill by hand
Then i saw the LG for £50 more and it had a plumb in water dispenser (with a filter) and ice maker crush/cube ok it was a little smaller but there’s only 3 of us in the house and it was more that enough to convince me it was better than out first choice, but if i had to buy again i would have gone to comet to buy it (i know its the same company) but on line it was a little cheaper and free delivery too (curry’s was £50) so i am picking it up, but curry will dispose of your old units for free and comet will charge you , in the end my neighbour is taking my old units and going to use them (Hotpoint fridge and a up right freezer) so its 6 of one etc………….

Ok thanks for that, so in general a twin is better for outhouse/garage etc, and the single is for inside the house, which is what i am getting and using it for
Thanks for your help again Tony

Top man thanks again for that 😀
Just looking around the forum….Samsung and Hotpoint don’t seem to be a very good make, i have 2 Hotpoints (over 18 years old now 😯 ) a fridge and a separate freezer and when i got them from new i had issues right from the start, its a shame because Hotpoint USED to be a very good name, thats the reason i chose LG now, they seem to have got it right (I hope)

ParticipantThanks for the reply’s, i think there 20mm push fittings? (or would they be 15mm?) i dont have the side by side yet getting it on the 3rd of next month, but i just wanted to get the bits first so its all ready
im going to put a Speedfit Service Valve On the mains 20mm pipe, and under that a T then come off towards the fridge and put another Speedfit Service Valve (my mains come out of the ground and up to the water tank of course i will fit all this after the stop cock valve so in emergency’s i can turn it all off on the tap) so i can shut the water off if i have to service or move the thing, dose that make sense and is that the way to do it?
