OK, in the absence of a response so far, I’ve decided to replace the ‘stat, only the original part is not in stock at espairs, so I’m going to go with a generic Ranco VT9 and hoping for the best. Any advice before I do? Please?

Gone again – should I order a thermostat on the basis of the above – please advise (what is the likelihood of the relay being at fault or even whatever starts the compressor motor)?
Many thanks in advance

Just updating this for any advice/comments and also for others searching in future. Problem was as stated above. After taking off the plastic case in the freezer to inspect the fan and eliminate the possibility of excessive ice build up(switched off for around 20 mins/half an hour) and inspecting the timer/relay and switching thermostats on/off a few times, the fridge started to work again full blast down to zero and the second compressor warmed up and I smiled and made my way to bed suspecting that this might not last. It didn’t 🙁 Warm fridge again today. I have just taken the relay out for inspection (i.e. to work out what it actually was!) and switched the top thermostat off and on a couple of times and it’s kicked back into life, but I suspect not for long. I suspect this is a thermostat on the way out, but I’m unsure – can anyone advise? Help much appreciated!
Many thanks,
Jezz
