btw: It seems Samsung USA now gives extended warranty on this particular problem. not that that helps us poor Europeans… 🙂

little update for people who have/had the same problem as me:
if/when they change the part (fan), have them check the water reservoir
as well. about 4 weeks after the initial repair, i noticed mine was leaking.
turns out the reservoir broke due to the frozen water.cheers.

i never complained about MY situation. here samsung was very open & helpful and they fixed it.
but this doesn’t seems to be the case in every country.
that’s why i decided to post my experience.i’m certainly not here to piss peole off just for fun.

if there’s no design fault, why did they replace the part with a new UPGRADED one?
why do they talk about the problem in the document that came with the part?
why does samsung france (the company, NOT the repairman) admit there’s a problem?

i didn’t come here to argue with anyone.
fact is that lots of people have problems with their samsung fridge.
and every time it comes down to the same part being faulty.
(again: see the samsung document…)maybe you think it’s normal that a fridge breaks down after 1.5 years.
i don’t!
i was luckily to get a repairman who was aware of the problem & who
changed the faulty part.many others are not that lucky and are being screwed by samsung,
who just say there’s no problem or just come to defrost your fridgei might not know anything about repairing,
but i do know what a “good product” is supposed to be.cheers

plse read the document i posted. they cleary state that there’s a problem with the part.
as for recalling it; it’s obviously cheaper not to say anything & just
wait for any customers to show up with a problem.maybe a “consumer rights” organisation could be helpful with this case…?
just my 2 cents of course, as i’m definitely no whitegoods expert 🙂

glad i could be of some help.
still, i wonder if samsung can just refuse to fix your fridge for free, just because it’s out of warrenty.
1s) they came to fix it & didn’t do a very good job..
so i imagine you also have some sort of warrenty on a repair job2nd) we are talking about a design fault here, and not just wear & tear.
as far as i know, when it’s proven that there’s a specific problem with a product, the manufacturer is obliged to get it fixed. even when the warrenty has run out.
and it is clear from the document that came with the new part, that samsung knows about the problem. they DESCRIBE it in there!
apparently the part is quite expensive, so you might wanna push samsung a bit more. maybe send a letter & enclose the document i posted…

Well my fridge has been repaired.
And I now understand what some people have tried to explain here above.anyway, for all the people (like me) that are not that technical, let me go through it in simple wording 🙂
1st:
Here in France Samsung DOES recognise that there’s a problem with their fridges,
and will replace the part for free with an upgraded one.I can only speak for my fridge: meaning the type that has the watertank
in the back bottom of the fridge (and NOT in the door of the freezer)this is my fridge:
here’s the watertank:
THIS is the part that needs to be replaced:
the fridge without the part:
this is the other side of the (new) part.
the only difference with the old part is a small metal strip which
goes through the hole (i marked in red), preventing the hole from
being blocked with ice:
these are the instructions from samsung that came with the new part.
it describes several potential problems that will be fixed
by changing the part.
it also has reference numbers of the fridges concerned:
I hope this clarifies it for people not so fridge-smart 🙂
And again; this IS a known problem, so don’t take no for an answer

well solved dripping water: just need to firmly connect the tube in the front, under the door.
but 2 days later: again no water.
called samsung and they’ll send someone in a few days.
however i’m afraid he’ll just defrost the fridge and nothing more.
(on the phone they said it was NOT a usual problem…)what should i tell the guy? and what parts should be changed for upgraded ones?
help will be appreciated

problem is that i don’t know how to get to the parts in the back.
only the fan & valve on the bottom are easily accesable…
