If it were, it’d sound like someone was throwing a bag of spanners around at the back of it so, probably not, just the way they are like I said.

Ah well. Just me hoping it’s an actual issue because I’ve never encountered such a loud noise coming from a fridge before. It’s quite distracting! In all the reviews I’ve found of this model, I’ve yet to come across anyone mentioning this. They all say it’s quite easy on the ears at 40db.

Either way, thanks for the input. The company will send out a technician to check on the fridge. Apparently there is enough reason for them to question whether this is normal or not, so they’re sending him out to me free of charge.

Nothing you can do about it, it’s just the way they are.

I’ve done some research and found several people describing the same clunking. Is it possible that there is a problem with the springs inside the compressor being loose and not cushioning the vibrations caused by the compressor turning on and off, thereby making the compressor parts bang against the metal side?

Is it clear of the wall at the back?
    Nothing impeding the compressor?

It is brand new indeed. There is about 10cm from the back to the wall as suggested in the manual. Air flow should be just fine.
