The appliance is in the kitchen which is usually at normal room temperature. However, it has been cold outside recently and it would be cold in the kitchen during the night when the heating is off.

I am puzzled; why would the light stay on at about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} if the ambient temperature is low? In fact it does dim to about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of usual brightness when the door is closed!
