Thanks for the reply, you are quite right about the waste disposal bit, I am some times a bit lazy, I will have to improve. I will give the cleaner a go if I can get hold of it.Thanks,

At last. apologies for the size.
The pic with the ruler is what came out of the pipe.
The view of the side of the dishwasher shows a “dirt collection” on the top left hand corner.
Does this need to be cleaned or even the heat exchanger replaced?
Any hints on how to prevent this from happening again. We have changed to the Fairy brand of soap and now use a cleaner once a month.Thanks.

Go to the top of the class!
I removed a large lump of something from the pipe, 415, and it seems Ok now after 1 wash cycle. I will post back again in a few weeks to let you know if it stays OK. I have some photos taken during the fun (!) and a further question relating to one of them, but haven’t worked out how to attach photo’s yet.Thanks again for the top notch advice.
