    Re: zwd12270w1

OK things I now know…there is no need to take the switch top off as the electronics and front plate are treated as one integral item.
Taking the front plate off is very simple and just requires that the wiring loom is taken off at the plugs (photograph connexions first).
I had another of these machines (not used at present by offspring) and replacing the entire front plate unit has brought my machine back to life.
Front plate is a pricey component to buy but when you know it does carry a fault you can buy the new one with confidence.

    Re: zwd12270w1

Thanks, I’ll do exactly that and take photo’s and get back to you.
Is the main control board a known suspect in this area?
There is also a pcb that handles the heater.
I’ve checked the red plunger on the resettable thermostat on the element housing inasmuch as seeing if it can be reset. It doesn’t go back in so have assumed it is normal position.
    Kind regards John

Thanks for that…multi has been set on 200ohm range and reads low ohms (less than 1) on LIVE plug pin to Suppressor, then to other side of Suppressor, then on to control switch input on pcb. Same for neutral.
Hope to hear from you later.

no lights, no display, no error codes.
The other problems were not mine but on the forum in 2010/2011. They seemed to be similar but no real resolution reported after the suggestion to prove out the components on the power path to the electronics.
    Thanks for the response John

Re: It started with a burning smell…

thanks for the response Martin…the power lead buzzes out as OK. Have unwound the flex and inspected for cracks and nips, nothing untoward.
The darkened room is looking much better than I first thought…may be in there for some time.

Re: It started with a burning smell…

Ok so I have now replaced the suppression capacitor harness and the thermal cutout harness.
    Still the fault persists.
Took the switch out of circuit.
    The fault still persists.
I have now officially gone insane as there is no original part left in this machine…can anyone recommend a reasonably priced sanitorium for a good long rest in a darkened room!

Re: It started with a burning smell…

Does anyone know how to source the Capacitor/filter part for this Hoover Cleaner?
    It’s a 0.15uF + 1MegOhm, wire ended device.

    Similarly the Auto-resetting Thermal Cutout?

Re: It started with a burning smell…

The new motor has now been received and installed.
Ran it up on bench, all ok.

    Put it all back together…nothing!

Considering that there are very few parts to this machine, motor, automatic resetting thermal cutout, power switch and a capacitor/resistor filter does anyone have an idea as to the culprit?

If the motor overheats, then the cutout operates.
Why would a brand new motor overheat??
Could the cutout operate below its set temp?

Does anyone know the failure conditions delivered by a faulty capacitor/resistor filter?

    Redfaced this end!!!

    Thanks for response Martin.
Just some sort of law governing the initial sucessful running on the bench then?

I think I can get a new motor unit for about the £36 mark…or does anyone know better?

Re: Indesit WD12 – drying not working (no heat?)

    Thanks Martin,

Nothing in life is as simple as it should be…number one son has now arrived in China and has shown deep regret in his action of deleting everything from the camera in preparation for his trip of a liftime! Whilst I am grateful for his regret, Mum and me have actually had our first visit to a laundrette for many a year. He on the otherhand responded with “What’s a laundrette?”

Granddma is shortly to be brought into this panto (she used to take in washing in the thirties so nothing new there then) because I’m apparently being a stubborn old s*d.

    iadom,
Thanks for response, understand completely (now that I’ve read rule 8).

Has anyone got a digital photo under the top of a Ariston AWD12UK?

Re: Indesit WD12 – drying not working (no heat?)

Hi, hoping that “helo_75” spots this.

Had the same problem with Ariston AWD12UK except that heating element was in two bits. Have now received spare parts. Clever old me took digital photo of wiring, not so clever old me forgot that number one son was about to go on a trip and has gone off with the camera!

Parts took some while to arrive so I now cannot remember the exactly which coloured wires go where. Can you help please?

Have replaced temp controller & heating coil. Wires left dangling are:
    – twin BLUE from fan motor, spade socket.
    – single BLUE from wiring loom, spade socket.
    – single RED from wiring loom, spade socket.
    – single RED from wiring loom, spade socket.
    – one end of therm fuse, spade socket.
    – other end of thermo fuse, spade.
