    OUCH

Any chance a normal fridge repairer could do it, or will it have to be the Hotpoint guys??

Thanks for that. I’ve just seen a new AEG model, the 49332I which does exactly what I want in every way, only problem is its £1200. Are there likely to be other manufacturers bringing this spec out in the near future? Is it worth waiting or should I just go with the AEG one? It comes with a 5 years parts and labour guarantee, but generally, how reliable are they considering the high premium you pay for the name? Are they worth it?

Re: Siemens Extraklasse 1300 washer dryer

    Thanks people.

Just had a new engineer come in – He says there’s nothing wrong with the bearings, altered the positioning of the pump and made everything quieter, and has ordered a new switch unit. In total, with his call out and time, the job will be about £50.

Can’t say how grateful I am to you and the forum for your help. I’m really not in a position to fork out for a new machine right now, and so relieved I don’t have to.

    thanks

    HI

Interesting that the bearings can be so easily fixed! Certainly not what the little man said… Any idea what the replacement parts would cost? Are they easily available?

The selector switch on the fascia just turns and turns but doesn’t connect to anything inside the machine, where the setting is permanently stuck on 70 mins. I’m sure it must be something fairly simple – maybe the thread on a screw perhaps, but £150 for parts just seemed so much to pay if the rest of the machine was knackered.

I’m beginning to think maybe the repairman had another agenda – like I said, all he did was stand and look at it and turn the drum round once. And it was 3pm on a Friday afternoon, and the company does have a large sales outlet on the High street…

Do you think a 2nd opinion would be worth a thought?

thanks for your advice – really appreciated.
