Well I couldn’t wait until the next wash day so gave the timed cycle a go with 1 damp tea towel.
It ran for bang-on 5 mins then…..hooray!! switched to reverse for roughly 8 – 9 seconds.
I’ll do a proper check on my usual ‘Cupboard Dry Cotton’ cycle at the weekend.
This could be a game changer.Again, thanks for your help. I’ll see if I’ve the option of selecting a Timed Cycle and report back. Won’t be ’til next weekend though, all the washing is done.

I’ve read through the instruction book many times looking for a programme with more reverse cycles but this kind of information is not referenced.
I’ve had two previous dryers, both cheap budget options, and they have outperformed the Hotpoint by a country-mile. I now regret the decision to go for a full-on digital machine rather than a good old clockwork type.
