Cheers – I went ahead and ordered the magnetron from the eBay listing you mentioned. Now, I’m hoping that it successfully fixes the issue with my oven. Fingers crossed!

Thanks electrofix
I’ve decided to go ahead and install a new magnetron and take my chances. However, I’m a bit confused about the specific model I should be looking for. The magnetron that came out of the oven is labeled as 2M236-M42 (J15-0519 0 1YC), but according to the BOSCH website, it should be 2M236-M42J1Y (Typ 2M236-M1G = spare part 641612). Now, when searching online, I’m coming across different numbers for the 2M236-M42 magnetron ( J9N-1106 0 P7 ). I’m unsure which one is the correct version I need to source. Any guidance or clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated.garichd

one thing to beware of it 5000V DC on the mag. This can be there even if the unit is switched off so you need to discharge the wires before touching anything

Thanks, Dave! I removed the magnetron from the oven. Upon inspection, I noticed that the tip of the magnetron is burned. I’m curious to know what could have caused this burning and if it’s worth considering repairing the oven at this point.
