I am a “world class” twiddler – the good news is that i know exactly what number of turns I have added to the span on switch 1 and 2 – so can “put it back” as it was.

We lived in Surrey where i thought the water was soft (ish) – but now live south of perth – I think your diagnosis might be right – too much (or the same as we used to use) powder. Have rectified this – washer working well.

By the way – is there a site that would have told me how much water the washer used (uses) – and what about a wiring diagram – or is that not for public domain?
