    Re: Hotpoint WM72 Error 15

Thanks for that, I actually work away so won’t be able to try that out for another week. It was just that when I was at home I was having problems trying to get the drum out even with sharpe blows on the shaft & didnt want to hit it too hard incase I cracked the plastic casing. then someone at work told me the supports weren’t in the drum so i was a bit relieved I didnt have to remove it (but obviously they were mistaken). I thought they must have been wrong because you can spin the drum to one position & there is no movement but spin the drum another 90 degrees or so & there is alot of movement, so couldn’t understand their answer.
    Thanks again

Where are the drum supports located? i thought they were in the drum & that you had to remove the drum to get to them but someone at my work has told me they are in the bottom of the machine, the two pistons type supports.

I have ordered an element so when that arrives I’ll fit that & see.
I think one of the drum suppports is damaged or corroded as there is some movement in the drum but when you spin the drum around 180 degrees it seems to be ok, so I will try & get the drum out & check these supports.

I have found slight worn marks on the heating element but it doesnt appear to be penetrated & the resistance of the element seems ok but you never know for sure till the element is heated up. I have noticed that the drum does move more than it should so maybe a support might be damaged but struggling to get the drum out (is there a knack to removing the drum dont want to damaged the shaft while trying to get it out of the bearing) . I also think the main problem for the error 15 might be the card faulty as when I ran it previously the pumped ran for along time after all the water had emptied out. Dont know how much those cards will cost? So it looks like its a combination of a few small faults.

I’ll check that out & see how I get on. Thank you very much for your help, Its the first time I’ve seen this website & are quite impressed, will be recommending it to my friends, it’s certainly easy to find a local engineer now

Thankyou for that, I am a qualified electrician so will check the heater. I think that probably will be the problem because I found one of the securing springs had come off so the drum had been shaking apparently. It is actually a friends Machine so cant have a quick look now to check but I can’t recall seeing the heater elements. Where are these situated under the drum & are they easily accessed.
