Participantelectrofix wrote:Difficult to be certain what the substance is. Have you ever dyed things in the machine ?
Dave
Apologies, I misread that as dried and not “dyed” thinking it was a washer / dryer. It wasn’t a poor attempt at sarcasm by me. The answer is no, we’ve never dyed anything in the machine.
I’ve also checked the concrete weights and they weren’t loose.

ParticipantNo, it’s just a washing machine.

ParticipantThanks for replying, Dave.
I’ll take a look at the weights and report back.
Should I be concerned about the black substance and rusty looking water in the pump filter cavity (as shown in the photos) or is just general gunge.
Many thanks

ParticipantRe: Beko DCU6130 – Not Heating – SOLVED
After speaking with Kenneth via chat. He suggested that it may be the heater based on the readings I gave him from the multimeter. He was absolutely spot on and we now have a working dryer. I since discovered that the ‘engineer’ that we called out fixes machines and sells them on, now there’s nothing wrong in that except he told me the heating element was not working. Make of that what you will. Many thanks to Kenneth for the advice and very timely delivery of the part. I shall recommend ukwhitegoods to others.
All the Best.

Hi,
Some further info. I don’t know whats relevant, but hope it’ll help. It may be worth noting that I did call out an engineer, last week, he explained that it could be to do with the 2 metal bars just inside the door. He said they were a dampness sensor, but sometimes he’s replaced these and it still hasn’t cured the problem. He was supposed to get a quote for the part and come back to me, but I haven’t heard from him since.
Thermostats on the top of heater –
On the continuity setting – Non resettable 206, no buzzer.
On the resettable 000 with buzzer.Heater connectors –
White on 200 setting 79.2.
Blue on 2k setting .213Front NTC on 20k setting ranges around 12.
If anyone could please advise I would be very grateful.

I’ve managed to find a few videos on replacing various parts, although they do relate to the FDW60. I think from what you’re suggesting I should just cut my losses with this machine.
Obviously we are now in need of replacing the machine. From what I gather Hotpoint / Creda / Indesit should be avoided. But what about other manufacturers, such as – Beko, Bosch, Samsung, Whirlpool & Zanussi?
Many thanks for your help.

Thanks again kwatt.
Hi iadom,
I followed the instructions from here, although it’s the FDW60:
http://jdesbonnet.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/hotpoint-aquarius-fdw60-drain-pump.html
It’s been a couple of weeks since the fault first occurred, but if memory serves, then we think that the water didn’t drain on another cycle.
This sounds like I need to think about buying a replacement, can you suggest one that’s sub £350 and preferably silver to match other appliances.

Thank you for the quick reply kwatt.
My wife has just mentioned to me that when the fault first occurred, lights 2(wash) & 4(Drying) flashed simultaneously.
Other then that, I don’t have any further info.
Can you please advise on how to proceed with fault finding?

I would’ve done, but I see advice has been given previously to people with problems with their showers.
Ok, I’ll try elsewhere. Thanks for your reply.

Hi K,
thanks for your reply. The area that has snapped is directly behind the lock mechanism (I’m happy to post a pic).
In your opinion should the Qualtex alternative be any sturdier?

I thought I’d post an update to help others that may experience the same issue.
After listening to BobHope’s advice. I decided to contact Beko again and see whether I could wangle a Condenser Fan Assy (p/n 4305891385) from them. Managed to convince one the the managers there, that it should last longer then it had and they agreed to supply one FOC. Received it via DHL within 3 working days (most impressed).
In regard to fitting it:
1. You need to turn the power off.
2. Remove the top 2 glass shelves in the freezer compartment.
3. Remove icecube trays and unscrew the holder.
4. Gently remove the panel behind.
5. Disconnect the connectors and remove screws.
6. Repeat in reverse order fitting new fan.Another reason I’m posting the above is an engineer told me over the phone that it was a major job to do this, which in all honesty it certainly wasn’t.
Fridge & Freezer now been working perfectly for the last 3+ weeks.
Many thanks to Bob (& Seamy for replying) in helping to diagnose the fault and supplying me with the necessary info.

ParticipantRe: BEKO AS920 Fridge Freezer defrosting as I type
It’s been nearly 24 hours and the fan is still running, the compressor feels very hot to the touch.
My wife told me that the “Min actual temp” icon (above the fridge and freezer temp reading) on the display has been on for most of the day, but disappeared at some point. The milk in the fridge door was ok earlier today, but is now frozen. I don’t know if this corresponded with the “Min actual temp” icon going off.
Last night I poured water into an ice cube tray and that is still showing no signs of freezing.
Placed a thermometer on the top shelf of the freezer and that showing a temp of 8C, the bottom drawer is showing -10C and bottom shelf in the fridge door is showing 0C.
Rang Beko, who were in all honesty next to useless. They told me that the f/f should last 6 years and that I should only contact them if it had been faulty in the 1st year of the manufacturers warranty. They instructed me to contact the retailer. The retailer didn’t want to know and referred me back to Beko. Explained symptoms to a local engineer on the phone and he asked me to push and hold in the button that activates the internal light on the fridge side for 1 minute. He said that I should hear a fan kick in, which I didn’t. This he said, meant that the freezer fan needed replacing. The fan is apparently buried deep within the back and was a fairly large job to replace. He recommended I find the s/n of the part and order it. I thought his call out/labour price was very reasonable @ £46.00, but I’m concerned without him seeing it I could be ordering the wrong thing.
Do you think the engineer was correct? If so how could I find the s/n of the freezer fan? Is the compressor supposed to get so hot and am I doing more damage in the meantime by letting it continue to try and get upto temp or should I place on fastfreeze in the interim? It concerns me that I’m doing more damage than good by letting it run the way it is.
I really could do with a direction on this as I have 3 children, one of which is only 5 months old.
Any further comments/advice is very welcome.
Thanks again.

ParticipantRe: BEKO AS920 Fridge Freezer defrosting as I type
Since my last post (8.14pm) I’ve noticed there were no sounds at all coming from the f/f (not even the low humming).
I don’t know what an evaporator looks like, however I removed the small white panel at bottom of the rear and saw no signs of ice or frost build up. Although there was a very small pool of water at the base of the fan. With the panel still off I switched it back on and after the self test finished the fan and compressor came on, the fan looked like it was initially rocking back and forth (almost like it was being impeded by something), however when I returned after looking for a torch (2-3 minutes) I noticed the fan was now making a full revolution. Both the fan and compressor have been running non-stop for the last 2 hours and continue to do so.
Stll no error codes.
I’ll update further in the morning.

ParticipantRe: BEKO AS920 Fridge Freezer defrosting as I type
I humming is constant and when the door is opened appears to be louder from the freezer side compared to the fridge.
Sorry, I don’t understand what you meant regarding temp. The display is showing -18C and 4C, I can’t tell you what the internal temp is as I don’t have a thermometer. I placed a piece of fish on the top shelf and it appears to be getting colder.
Is it worth putting it on FastFreeze or will that overshadow what is causing the problem?
