    Re: Diplomat 8234 leaking

    Penguin45:
I have a bit more information again: the leakage happens towards the end if program number 4 is running and appears to be on the right hand side of the machine. I’ve taken off the metal cover but could not identify the two ‘O’ rings you mentioned. Would you be able to explain where exactly I’ll have to look ? Or would it help if I make some digital pictures and post links to those on here perhaps ? Let me know what I can do to find the rings I might have to replace please.

    Thanks for the reply penguin45.

I’ll try to explain a bit more. The machine starts without problems. I just mentioned the door closing more difficult recently as there could have been a relation to the leakage perhaps, but that does not seem to be the case here.

What I mean with the metal plates is that underneath the dishwasher there are some metal plates where there appears to be a ‘lowest point’ where some leakage water collects and drops form there and fall off (not at a fast rate, but dropwise really – but as a leakage it all adds up really). When you lay on the floor in front of the machine and look underneath it with a torch it is just about possible to see it happen when the machine is running.

I had a look in the manual but it does not give much information relating to this. The thing I wonder is where this water might come from. The dishwasher is not the newest anymore and it could be the case that seals are not working properly for that reason and water drips down to the bottom of the machine in one way or another. Are there any common faults with the seals of older machines of this type perhaps ?

    It’s THIS ONE.

Thanks, just under 12 pounds including postage. The connection to the drum and filter looked a bit tricky to redo, or is this not too bad ?

Thanks very much for your answer.

The actions mentioned in your second point helped – it was full of sludge.
Probably had to do with not regularly cleaning out the filter indeed.

It seems to work fine now, though there was one thing that worried me. To be able to remove the white nozzle I had to cut through a cable tie and unfortunately it appeared that I did make a small cut in that hose just underneath where the nozzle connects in the process. After I cleaned out the hose (using a camelback hose cleaning brush!) I did put the white nozzle back in a bit deeper so the cut in the hose was just where the nozzle is rather than underneath it. I then fitted a new cable tie around it (maybe a hose clip would be better and I don’t understand why there wasn’t one there originally). Now my question is: would it in time be a problem if there would be a leak at that position as am I correct in thinking that the water gets that high only very briefly for a few times during the programmes after which the water supply is stopped immediately as it has reached the desired level ? In other words: is it correct that there will not be loads of water flowing through the top of that tube ? It seems not to leak at the moment – does the tubing need replacing perhaps and if so is this an easy job or not ?

    Thanks again,
    Frank
