As you asked Alex I’ll try to give a quick rundown as to the state of play so far. Of the eight engineers their service manager and the office staff who found themselves unemployed on the 22 August 2007, one of the engineers found new employment within two days, the girls from the office all found new employment eventually.
The rest were finally taken on by Whirlpool on a short term 3mths contract to cover the work within the old Link area. There was not sufficient work to sustain eight engineers purely on Whirlpool products so the ex service manager was released from the contract in Nov 2007 leaving seven engineers who were offered an extension to the short term contract as Whirlpool wanted to try keeping service in house as they felt it could be profitable. One of the engineers was promoted off the road in early 2008 and one left to become self-employed in Sept 2008 leaving five engineers still on a temp contract with Whirlpool.
What happened to the ex service manager, well he got a temp contract for six months with another company back on his tools, that ran out and now he finds himself looking for work.

Check that the water supply chute from the icemaker to the rear of the unit is not blocked with ice. 😉
