I’ve sent them both boards just in case.

Main power board is what I’m hedging my bets on.

    Thanks for all this

I plugged the main board back in, and then tested the wires going to the remote board. As suspected there were a range of voltages across the different pins ranging from 5v to 12v.

So, there’s power getting to the remote board.

Do we now think it’s the remote board or the main board, or shall I just send both off to that repair place?

    Thanks Dave

I know which five wires these are. I’ve tested the wires for continuity, and no problem there, so I’ll temporarily reconnect the main board again and test for 5v at the panel PCB.

Any idea where to check for 5v off that remote board?

Are you saying to double check the wire between the control box at the bottom and the display/control board?

OK, so I took the machine out.

This is where the power comes in.

All seems fine and there’s 240v going in and going out of that thing

I guess the power then travels down to the main control board and is fed by this plug

There’s power getting to this plug. I guess the other live and neutral go off to the motor – there’s continuity between these two, so that seems OK.

This is the control board, and I’m guessing this is what’s failed, but I have no way of testing.

Was hoping that I’d be able to find someone who repairs/refurbishes such things, but I can’t find anyone.

    However, I have found this:
    https://appliancespareparts.mysimple…le-21501016603
Seems pretty reasonable, but from what I’ve read, these control board are used in a number of machines and this one may be out of a machine that isn’t the same as our one.

    So, a couple of questions.
    1. Is it a pretty safe bet that this board is the thing that’s failed in our machine?
    2. If I go ahead and buy this second hand replacement board, what are the chances it’ll work in our machine?

An help would be much appreciated.

Lovely. Thanks. That’ll be my first port of call.

Not yet. It’s an integrated machine, so haven’t pulled it out yet.

Was thinking it would probably be something ‘more’ than that, bearing in mind our previous issue with it tripping the consumer unit fuse.

Thanks for all your help guys. Once I removed the drum, it was clear the bearings had suffered a catastrophic failure.
Will report back once I manage to get a new tub.

Morning all. Just a final update on this. The new diverter valve arrived, which I fitted.

Once I’d removed the old one, saw the state of the seal, and that there’d been some water ingress into the gears, I felt pretty sure this was the cause of my problems – the source of the ticking noise and the poor cleaning results. I think the shaft from the valve shaft had siezed on the seal, causing gears to jump and thus the ticking noise.

It’s an integrated appliance, so after a couple of test washes to check the repair and for leaks last night, I’ll refit the machine today.

    Many thanks.

Yep, have already ordered it, and it’s coming in from France. Hopefully it’ll get my wife off my back!

    Hi Dave

Finally got the machine out and turned it on its side to see the diverter valve which I then took off. It looks like there’s been water in that area as there’s some staining that’s gone on.

I dismantled the valve, and there’s more staining inside the valve.

The seal looks absolutely rotten, and I managed to get the remains of it out which you can see from the photos.

All I can assume is that the shaft had seized in the seal.

I’ve been in touch with the the shop at UK white goods and they tell me that the seal is no longer available as a separate item without the whole valve.

Hey ho, I’ll have to buy a whole new valve and seal.

    Any other thoughts?

    Graham

Hi Dave, assuming it is the diverter valve, and it can’t be repaired, where’s the best place to get a replacement motor, or complete assembly?

Good stuff. Thanks Dave. You’ve been an absolute star. Will report back once I get the motor off
