Please excuse the significant unearthing of this thread!

I’m dealing with the same issue here with a slightly newer (2006ish) dishwasher. Faced with a £120+ part with no guarantee of fix situation, I’m looking how to extend this appliance’s life if possible into the new year. I’ve got the divertor valve apart and except for a bit of slop between the final drive gear and the round valve plate everything else seems to be ok. I was planning on gluing the gear to the plate to take up some of the slop but have lost track of which position internally aligns with the wide tooth on the gear wheel.

Bit of a stretch, but does anyone have that detail?

Otherwise, is the water flow really that low that it would not drive both lower and upper sprays at the same time? Id be tempted to drill a hole to allow both to run at the same time but worried that would really be a final blow if it didn’t work. Thanks in advance!
