Re: Miele W460S trips RCD only on wash cycle

Thanks Seamy, I was still doubting the heater element, so I put 3-4 litres of water in the drum and re tested the element. It was a dead short on 500v insulation test. I have now replaced element and all is well. (element code 6260481 now superseded by 6260482 2.1kw 230v) lots of cheap ones out there £25-£45 but I got a miele for £68.90 delivered from Germany, it took 3 days.
Tip: easy way to isolate the element, trace the 2 black wires which come up from the main group on the right corner to the plug at the rear top right. Unplug to isolate heater element, if machine works and doesn’t trip then most likely heater element fault.

I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

Hello all, if anyone is reading this after I fitted the two sensors, the freezer now works perfectly. Problem solved despite both sensors appearing ok when tested at room temperature, they must give incorrect ohms reading at lower temperature. Advice to anyone reading, change both sensors together as you can’t guess which one can be faulty. Also use a fridge magnet on the door sensor to test the fan is working when the door is open, you will see the door light go out at the same time.

Thanks to eldar59 for his advice.

    Hello eldar59,
I received 2 sensors today, I removed the evaporator sensor and measured ohms at room temperature, I got 5.6k ohms. So I did the same with air sensor and got 5.43k ohms. The two new sensors measured 5.47 and 5.52 so little difference. Both old sensors dropped to 4k ish when held in warm hand, so appear to be working ok.

I have not fitted the new sensors yet but will do, not expecting the problem to be resolved.
Any further suggestions would be welcome.

    Many thanks,

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

Hello Eldar59, yes it is not the read switch, this also triggers the led door light which I only noticed after tested it with a meter. It could possibly be the air sensor as well as this needs to differ by 2k ohms warmer before fan switches on. I notice that both air and evaporator sensors ohms to temperature are the same. So although the part code is different I must be able to use either sensor in either position? Is it normal to run the sensor down to the pcb board or cut it up by the fan join and heat shrink?
    Kind regards

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

Hello Eldar59, I realise you don’t have your tech books at home and I don’t blame you. However your guess on the fuse was correct as I have just found a service book online, not for my model but very similar. It clearly shows the brown item as A temperature fuse. I saw fan operates when sensor has correct value colder than air sensor, door reed switch is closed and compressor is on. So that limits it to evaporator sensor or reed switch, if neither of those then the control PCB. I don’t believe the PCB is faulty as everything else is functioning correctly. Many thanks once again.

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

Hello Eldar59, once again thanks for your advice. The evaporator was iced up but not badly, I could see ice at the front for the first time before I opened this up to get to the fan. The brown item does not look like a fuse, it has a blue and red wire, blue connecting to the fan 4 core going down and red connecting to a pipe off the evaporator board. So it must be some sort of temperature sensor for the evaporator pipe work. Does this Freezer have a defrost circuit, Its a frost free freezer, I have never defrosted it in 4 years. Or is it something that happens without me knowing. How can I prove the sensor is good or faulty? If I measure ohms across the sensor what should I expect?
    Kind regards

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

    Hello Eldar59,
After lots of hassle from the better half I got around to looking at the freezer. I unplugged the fan and connecting 230v direct and it works fine. I saw 2 sensors, (1) white tubular 30x8mm which I presume is the fan sensor. I am going to track this and short out to see if fan comes on, if so will order and replace. (2) brown 26x20x6 fixed to the plate above the evaporator, marked IRCA 93 deg 05 09 can you tell me what this is and purpose.

Also when I pulled fridge/freezer out the freezer compressor very hot compared to fridge compressor. Not too hot to touch, I presume this is to be expected as it is never reaching temperature and not getting a rest. Could this leave long term damage to the compressor?

    Kind regards,

Hello Bryan, the freezer starting beeping today, display showing -10 and inside also -10 (set at -18) inside has been -15 to -18.
4 beeps pause 4 beeps pause etc.
    Thanks

Hi Eldar59 thanks for the reply, can you tell me where the evaporator and fan are located? I presume I need to get to the rear of the freezer. Are either the fan or evaporator sensor parts I could replace? (I am from an electrical background)

Re: Liebherr SBSes 7273 – Freezer not cooling

Hi Bryan thanks for the reply, I am unable to count the beeps, as the highest I can set the freezer is -14 and display has not shown lower than -9, so wont beep anymore. Inside measured temperature at the top is around -14 and -18 at the bottom.
