    Re: GHD Hair straightners

Good to see some of this discussion emerging.

With a recession underway everybody in the trade is looking for new ways of diversifying to boost sales. The very real issue as a distributor Europart is seeing is the decreasing gap between the price of the spare part needed for the repair vs. price of new replacement finished appliance.

The small appliance repair market has been almost destroyed some cases because of the fact that (as a rule) you need to be able to complete a repair for the customer at about a cost of 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} against the cost of purchasing a new appliance. Where this isn’t possible the repair is rarely undertaken – altogether too common nowadays.

GHD spares remain affordable and readily available. This enables our customers to offer a blanket repair service – ā€œany repair of any GHD for Ā£40ā€, or a bespoke one where no single spare will cost the customer more than Ā£15-Ā£20.

In short the 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} rule is always a possibility.

GHD are regarded by users as the ā€œFerraris of Hair Straightenersā€. With over 5 million units sold in the UK and a typical RRP of Ā£80-Ā£120 per unit. Customers value these appliances, and this in many cases makes these products are even more commercially viable to repair than many vacuum cleaners or budget home laundry appliances.

If your considering offering the service, think about the fact, you can take of stock of the items that 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time fail and need replacement for less than Ā£50-Ā£75. This doesn’t require a huge investment in stock, and it means that you can offer a quick turnaround service. Imagine if this was true for Indesit appliances for example!

To boot, the repairs themselves are relatively simple to perform. We see this as being the key. You can to add a new profitable dimension to your business, with minimal investment of capital and skill to enable this. Ultimately, it doesn’t require much of a risk. Something few of us can afford to take given the current strains upon the trade.

    Thanks Dave

12-BS-03A is the BSH Genuine Equivalent

    £16.19 a pair
    £15.99 for 10 pairs+

If you can confirm the door to be Stainless Steel. Europart’s 14-ST-0208 is compatible. Special order, maximum delivery time of about a week Ā£112.50 before VAT. Very expensive I know but marginally better.

    Re: Neff half turn elements

Maddocks stocks these elements – 14-NF-43, as a pattern alternative to the genuine (which is rather steep in price)! We source them ourselves also so they’re not from the same batch as other trade suppliers.

We sell quite a few of them and I’ve not had bad reports back from Customers. Although that’s not to say you’ll never had one that doesn’t work.

May be worth a go if your current source is too expensive / unreliable!
