Re: previous unanswered post, it actually sticks in the drying phase, not the rinse.
Could this be a fault in the temperature sensor as mentioned in the related post for a different machine?
Perhaps, the control is waiting for a certain high temperature to be reached before moving on to the next notch. If the sensor is not operating, might it then get stuck in the loop waiting for the high it’s never going to get?

Thanks for your reply.
This case is now complicated by my now being in Tunbridge Wells and the machine being in Dorset (it is my mother’s) – in fact you are closer to it now than I am! However, I expect to be back down again in a couple of weeks.
I checked the element visually – twanging the springs to see if they came apart etc and then electrically checking for continuity from the plug. 3 wires carried current whichever way I played them.
I will check again as a timer problem would probably be terminal. Now you mention this, though, I should have checked each of the wires onto the timer, making sure they were home.
Regarding wires, I did photograph the connections to the mains lead, with the blue, black, brown, black in the main section. Then there was an earth lead in the lower section with 3 prongs. The one wire I didn’t notice at first, and which I didn’t get in the photo, was fawn – I reconnected this to one of the lower three prongs, which I took to all be earths. Does that sound right to you?
Yes, I unplug before doing anything!
