    Hi Dave

It tripped the RCD, there was a loud pop and a burning smell from the washer. Now it powers up and when you spin the programming dial it sounds as though its working but the drum does not spin.

    Hi Dave

NO part number, Engineer seemed to think it was a lost cause and yes I checked Ebay and there is a machine there, however, its about 200 miles away from me.
Does it sound like it could be the capacitor, where about is it in the machine, so I can open it and get the capacitor out to replace it.

Re: Zanussi Washer Dryer on off button

    Hi
For some reason I can’t access the forum to start a new topic, as the error states that I do not have permissions to access the forum yet I can access this post ???

Anyway, my next problem is that the dryer is not working, the drum spins but there is not heat generated. Would I be correct in assuming that the condenser has a problem or there is an airflow issue. I assume that the top of the machine has to come off and the airflow ducts or the condenser is on the right hand side and probably need cleaning as lint and fluff has blocked the airflow..

    Hi Martin

Thanks ALL aligned and working perfectly now 😀
Thanks to you, Dave and this forum… A great bit of learning experience for me as well.

I have a problem with the dryer and will open another post regarding that…

    Hi
I have checked that part and it does not appear to be broken, however, it would appear that the alignment of the clips from this red part are not in place correctly. Please see attached picture.. I assume the clear plastic clips fit into the red lugs…

    Hi Martin
The arm is attached and moves when the control knob is rotated.. The control knob is fitting into the lugs and internal alignment, however the cycles are still hit and miss eg Programming cycle C normally takes about 1hr for a complete wash, but it’s stopping after about 10 minutes.

Re: Zanussi Washer Dryer on off button

Tried this but the cycles are still not correct..
The knob is aligned with the lug and fits OK, the nut screws on OK, but the knob does not stay pushed in on ALL cycles for some reason..
Could the mechanism have moved above the controls as I noticed this when I removed the top cover and maybe the sliding bar that operates with the bar is now misaligned..

Re: Zanussi Washer Dryer on off button

    Hi
I have managed to replace the button, even though the button fitment did not align properly, but the machine does switch on and off. However, the problem I now have is that when I took the programming knob off to remove the front panel and reconnected the cycles / programs are not working as they used to, maybe I have not aligned it properly or they need to be reset.

Example on the wash cycle that my wife regularly used the powder or conditioner are not entering the drum as expected or its not draining on the proper cycle.

    Any advice would be appreciated…

    Hi Thanks for the information..
I didn’t realise the cover could come off the control knob.
I will order the part and report back.. 😀
