“Using the Search within this forum will also reveal plenty of info on these machines and their little foibles.”

yeah i had the misfortune of buying a Hotpoint dishwasher when i bought my washer dryer, basically because they looked really nice and modern.

Big mistake! I have had nothing but problems with both of them and i have had an engineer out no less than 6 times for my dishwasher alone!

I’ver learnt my lesson on this one – DON’T BUY HOTPOINT. They are rubbish!

Re: Hotpoint WD860 – no heat on dryer cycle – FIXED!!

I did a bit of googling and found that this is actually a common problem and it is caused by the heater fan coming off it’s spindle and causing the dryer to overheat, which trips the thermal cutout and causing an f-13 error.

So, i have now tightened up the fan spindle again and reset the thermal cutout by pushing a pin through the yellow wax dot on the top of it.

So thats it – all fixed. Does anyone know whether resetting the thermal cutout in this way means it won’t ever cut out again if it overheats?

I want it to be safe and so i will buy another thermal cutout switch if it is now ‘always on’. Does anybody know if this is the case?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked the sink coupling and this is clear and there are no kinks in the pipe anywhere, so sounds like its the drain pump.

How awkward are we talking for getting to the drain pump…? Do you need any specialist tools or is it just a tight fit?!

    Thanks…
