Thanks for the info dave. So got multimeter, opened top and as I was checking the connections for the thernal fuse noticed at one end the cable was not actually connected to its spade connector meaning the thermal fuse was only connected at one end. No idea how the cable had come out of that spade connector.
So pried open the crimp like tabs took out the copper wire, stripped a bit of sheathing of the cable and reinserted. All working fine now. very bizarre how the cable dislodged.
