Re: HOTPOINT WMA22 DOOR LOCK FAULT

Would some please advise me of the likely estimated price of a service engineer call out to replace both the interlock and the door catch assembly?.

14 year old machine! time to buy new :plug: Opinions welcome.

Re: BEKO UPRIGHT FREEZER DRAIN NOZZLE – UPDATE

Having contacted BEKO regarding freezer ice build-up problem they arranged for service engineer’s visit as a gesture of good will. (appliance out of warranty)
The engineer has now been, identified the cause of the ice build-up and removed the ice which had built up in the drainage hole at the bottom of the freezer. Thankfully I no longer need to de-stock/defrost my freezer. 🙂

The engineer said that as my freezer was installed in my garage which is ‘dustier’ than a kitchen, then each time I opened the freezer door, fine air-borne dust particles would bee drawn inside. During the 18 month age of the freezer this dust eventually mixed with the defrost ice/water and then slowly built up inside the black rubber valve blocking the 2 ‘very narrow’ drainage slots.

In order to prevent the problem reoccurring the engineer has snipped off the end of the valve to slightly enlarge the drainage slots.

Hopefully the engineer’s report/feedback will give BEKO the opportunity to modify the design of the rubber drainage valve.

Finally I must give BEKO 10/10 for excellent standard of customer service. 😀

Thanks Simon. Currently have a packed freezer with £150/£200 of frozen food to eat B4 defrosting…doh!. What I need is an inexpensive ‘domestic’ local RENTAFREEZER service so I’m now going to search Google 💡

    Re: FREEZERS IN COLD GARAGES/OUTBUILDINGS

    Thanks kwatt.
I’ve noted that nearly all units for the UK are Climate Class N/SN (+10/+16 to +32). However the Curry’s Article does not mention Climate Classes for very cold countries where perhaps the ambient range is far lower. The article says location of freezers in garages is a non-starter so the availability of Bekos advertised as operating efficiently at ambient temps down to -15degC is the best compromise notwithstanding their reliability issues.
