A delay may not be an error, but it is just too long a delay, enough for you to think you haven’t pressed the button correctly and want to press it again if that makes sense. Turning the machine off is a quick response in contrast.

Yes it was, there would be maybe a 5 second delay but the Indesit engineer came out and reset the machine on Tuesday this week and so far it is working fine again. He said that the fault with the machine starting first time around may have been caused by a power surge or a power cut but it’s now fixed, so I suggest you book for an Indesit engineer to come out if you’re still in your 12 month warranty period.
Just make sure that the dishwasher has been installed level as they will blame the installation if they sit a spirit level on it and it’s not level, so best to check this before you call them out and before the engineer arrives or else you’ll have to pay approx. £55 call out fee. Other than this it’s completely free and is covered by your warranty Good luck!

    Hi there,

I am experiencing the EXACT same fault and have done since my dishwasher was installed, brand new, in March this year. At first I just assumed it was me that was doing something wrong but it’s actually starting to become quite annoying now, not to mention that the door catch/latch is obviously going to endure twice the wear and tear it would if the machine was working properly.

I have followed the instructions to a T: switch the machine on, select the programme with the P button, then press start and swiftly close the door within 4 seconds. Then it beeps once (a short beep) followed shortly afterwards with the 3 beeps signifying that there’s an error, so I then have to re-open the door and start the process again and it is only when repeating the process a second time does the long beep sound and the cycle starts.

I was going to contact Indesit but it seems they’re not much help from what you’ve said?? Would this be covered under the annual manufacturer’s warranty does anyone know?

    Thank you
