Re: Hotpoint Dryer fault
Here is a UK white goods success story.
I had a problem with my condenser dryer hotpoint CTD40. The problem was that it was no longer heating, and after a while a couple of lights would start flashing. the instruction manual refered me to hotpoint.
i picked up from this forum that it was likely to be the thermostats. I decided to take the risk, so i ordered the thermostats here (£22 plus £3 postage). I also got myself a multimeter from ebay.
On these dryers there is a panel at the back which is very easy to take apart, inside the thermostat are neatly aligned. the heating elements can be inspected and looked ok – i.e. not burned or fried…
i removed the existing thermostats, tested them with the multimeter – clearly one of them had a problem. i installed the new ones and put the casing back on. And the dryer is working again, if anything better than it was before.
problem solved in 4 days for £25, which is much less than the call out rate of hotpoint!
