Re: Hoover Vision HD Error Code 8

Just to help others with this problem I have finally cracked it. As per the help posted I checked the tacho and it was fine. I traced the wiring back to the main cct board and checked the signal there which was OK as well. On removing the main cct board I found corrosion on the back of the board which had eaten away one of the tracks going away from the tacho connection so I soldered a wire from the connection to the next point on the board and hey presto machine working again.

    Thanks for the help All

Thanks for the reply, but I checked the Tacho and it is a sole and resistance is 184 Ohms, I also checked the output and got a couple of volts spinning it by hand. I am a competent electrical engineer and was wondering what signals to look for on the inverter board. I normally work on CNC machine tools so I am expecting an analogue signal with feedback, but which is which?

Re: Hoover Vision HD Error Code 8

I have done some further research and managed to get a schematic, it seems that the tacho feedback goes to the main board on DT1 And DT2 and there are 4 wires that go back to the DC motor board – dca-,dc+,dca+ and dc-. Any idea where the speed control comes from? Is it through the dc motor board which supplies the field or through the armature (brushes) which come from the main board.

    Any input would be welcome
